I'm picking up a set of snow tires and tire rack suggests the blizzak lm-22's, but the size is 215/45R18 XL, and it gives me a warning that says:

"The following tire you have selected has a higher load rating than the vehicle's Original Equipment (O.E.) tires. This typically results in increased ride harshness, which some customers may find undesirable."

Are these okay? Is this the size everyone else has been using with the Blizzaks, and will the ride be harsh with them?

Tire Rack said that about the Hankook Ventus that I ordered too, but they are very plush. It varies by brand and tire. I have no idea about Bridgestones.
There's lots of compromises with snow tires anyways.

One of the Car Mags (Car & Driver, Road & Track, Motor Trend) I subscribe to had a good article about winter tires in this months issue. Just can't remember which one.

Snow tires are much softer in general than summer tires. The new tires will not feel harsher.

High load rating just means the sidewalls are stronger & the tire is rated to carry more weight. No danger in going with a higher load rating, aside from possibly some increased ride harshness. The danger is in going lower than OEM load rating, which can cause tire failure after extended use, since they'd technically be overloaded.

You should be fine. Especially if they're Winter Tires- who cares if they're a harsh ride?
