xDJ DUBx's 03.5 Pure White LX-T

in my honest oppinion...don't bother building the motor unless you are going to use that potential...it's kinda a waste of money to build an awesome engine and run a stock msp kit at only 200-225whp....that being said, if you do plan to use that potential then by all means go forged or go home =P

+1

As said, it will be decided after school budget is laid out, which won't be until next year, so its not like its gonna happen next week. It's just an idea at the moment cause I know with a couple more mods and a tune to get me to 200whp, I'll be real happy speed wise.

...or I might sell it and get an evo (evil)

NO EVO! I like them almost got one, but having the ability to smoke one with my mp5t PHENOMINAL!!

stock for stock, sure...but with 5k in an evo vs 5k in a p5 you will outrun the p5 any day of the week =P
bolt ons on an evo just go so much further...plus the ability to tune through the obdII port out of the box on top of that is an even bigger plus....and the ability to run e-85 with larger injectors, a wideband gauge for monitoring, a walbro fuel pump, and a tune is just amazingly awesome to boot =P

If u think ur protege is breaking ur bank wait till u get an evo greg. (evil)

yea but at least all that money will be going towards breaking the 300awhp mark instead of the 200fwhp mark =P

and it'll also be going towards making it faster, rather than going towards making sure the engine doesn't blow in the process lol

dont get me wrong, I love the msp/protege....it's a great handling car and with enough money it can be quite fast, plus it looks gorgeous when done up right...but if I had to spend 20k on another car again (not including the cost of buying the car) I'd gladly put that into an evo instead

Ive heard that folks spend a good deal on the transmission for evos or stis. But yea they're nice cars. Keeping them maintained is tough. Im sure that will not affect u tho.

I dunno rob. I see u having an evo and it sitting out behind ur house with a blown motor and ur rebuilding it. lol. sorry dude. Thats just the Rob way.

oh I know that mine will probably have lots of downtime, because my project is shooting for a very high horsepower range...considering I have my bike now to get around town at school I can afford to have a project that takes a long time to complete properly, which is a luxury I didn't have with the msp in the least

but no, evo transmissions are not weak, the transfer cases do have troubles if abused while shifting but that is also the case with the protege transmission...the MR 6-speed has a weak 4th gear, yes, but if you are buying the car for a horsepower build then it's quite normal to get an evo with the 5-speed...our protege transmissions are like glass compared to the evo transmission, and the only way to produce over 300whp in a protege without destroying your transmission is to go through PAR and have a multi-thousand dollar transmission to match your multi-thousand dollar engine that you need to support 300whp in the first place lol

I'm not saying that building a fast protege is retarded, quite the contrary...I have mad respect for anyone willing to spend the money, time, and effort to make their car fast...but my biggest pet peeve is the kettle calling the pot black, and calling an evo unreliable compared to a turbo protege is like saying that mclovin could take on hulk hogan lol...he very well could with the right amount of time, training, and steroids, and there is mad respect to be had with that dedication...but that doesn't mean that I'd spend my money doing that instead of on booze for the party if I were in his shoes =P

and I'd also like to note that I'm not saying evos are the benchmark fastest car ever either...but this is a discussion between the evo and msp, so I won't venture past the other options than evos haha

2003.5 bumper swap

I have a question i just bought a speed bumper and i wanna know if someone had problem to fit the bumper. i explain....on the driver side when i built my custom fmic i had to cut like half of the fog light braket of my n/a protege bumper(the piece where the fog grill was hooked)to have place to put the cold pipe. I just dont want to cut my new bumper and the most important thing is I want to keep my braket to bolt my 03.5 lip on the bumper. Hope i wont be oblige to find another route for my piping.(scratch) If anybody knows something about this....tell me
thanks
