Not much, been working on the wiring, all the old wiring works except for the wiper, for some reason it isn't. Had a little fun with the paint.

Picked up a rear end from a 280zx with an r180, got it all mounted to the 510 crossmember. Hope to have it all bolted into the car tomorrow.

'80, so it doesn't have the 82-83 better rear brakes, but I also got a set of calipers from an 82 rear end. Need to find a way to adapt them over.

Nice is since my rear cross member was modified for the adjustable one in the dime quarterly everything bolted right up. Only things I need to modify right now are my sway far mounts since they bolted to the spring cup in the 510 arm that the 280 arms don't have. And the strut mounts are a little bigger than the 510 ones for the coil overs.
 
Did you get the rear end in?
Also where did you find that mustache bar?

Yes the rear end is all bolted in 1980 280zx control arms, axles, and r180 rear end, with stock 510 cross member and stock 510 rear mustache bar.

Only things I need to modify to get it all to work properly is a way to mount the sway bar since it mounted to the 510 spring cup and the 280 arms don't have the cup. And the perch that hangs down for the spring from the body are hitting the control arms so they have to be cut off.

Sadly it does push the wheel out a few inches. Wheels are 15x7 0 offset.

Oh man that much offset calls for bubble flares.
I guess that swap is out for me.....

I will just have to find a VSLD WRX R180 and have my stub axles grooved for the clips....
 
Yeah, either bubble flares or TRY and find some +38 wheels that look good in 4x114, but it's hard as hell. I've found some I like, just not sure yet.

I wish I could go back and test fit the wheels I bought before I bought them.
I will make them work, but its a PITA right now.
 
Wow Just read through the whole thread. Nice build man. Definitely an inspiration can't wait to really begin working on my 510. Recently picked up a 95 KA24DE the other day from a S14 guy up in Mt Vernon. So what did you end up doing for the front cross member and sway bar? Do you have to modify it at all like you would for the KA?

Recently picked up a 95 KA24DE the other day from a S14 guy up in Mt Vernon. So what did you end up doing for the front cross member and sway bar? Do you have to modify it at all like you would for the KA?

Thanks man, hopefully she will be running soon, but I'm not counting on it. I just flipped the crossmember (don't have any pictures of the process though sadly), I plan to get a sway bar made for front sump engines. I'm blanking on the name right now. When I find it I'll post it.
