Just joined the board so, greetings!

I'm in the market for a MS3 and plan on looking a few in the Northern Virginia area. Just wanted to put a quick post out there to see if you guys had any good hot spots to check on these cars or solid questions to ask specific to the MS3. The current one I'm looking at is an 08 GT with 15k, not sure if that's an 08.5 or not. Thanks in advance.

I think the most important thing to look for when shopping for a used Speed is whether it has been abused/raced, or modded in ways that are harmful. Maybe look under the hood for any signs of scuffs, screw marks for signs of installing or removing modded parts.

Have you seen the car in person? If you've been in the cabin, you'll notice either gray or piano black accents on the dash and door cards. If gray, it's an '08. If piano black, it's '08.5.

No I havn't seen the car in person yet but I'm going to check it out tomorrow. I'll be sure to check under the hood for any mods.

yeah best is to check the airbox mounting screws/bolts since this is a common install on any car. If its been swapped out usually missing screws or scuffed paint in the engine bay is a good clue.

Haha yeah I got that feeling from reading all the reviews. Going to check it out today. Looks like it's an 08.5. Any huge difference in the years I should be aware of?

The 08.5 and 09 have the piano black trim (as mentioned earlier) and Alacantra seat inserts. Not sure when they put the MP3 capabilities in the radio. But the seats for sure are really nice on the 08.5's and 09's.
