The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

saw a really nice black ms3 with black wheels with a red stripe in german village (columbus)

^It's probably the same Spicy I saw the other day in Akron.

Spotted, Titanium MSP with altezzas at Wendy's Drivethru on Manchester rd in Coventry.

I'm thinking of painting the stock rims black, but I want to put a red lip in them as well... Are there any good how-to's or tips on how to make the red lip? I really have no clue, but this is definitely the next thing I want to do to my car...

Not sure of any how tos...but if you take your time, I'm sure you could mask off a red stripe...

I've heard of doing it both ways. Perhaps I could shoot the outer edges of the rim with a coat of red, then mask it off and finish the black. This might be the easiest way of doing it. I've heard of using pinstriping vinyl from Autozone or somewhere, but that sounds low quality to me.

Edit: I think the biggest problem is that our stock rims don't exactly have a 'lip', do they? I'll check when I'm back by my car... So how thick should my 'lip' be? Tell me honestly, do you think it would look stupid on a stock MS3 rim? Photoshop anyone? I might when I get home tonight...

Edit #2: Anyone know of a place to go in the Akron-Cleveland area that powedercoats rims? How much per wheel should I be expecting?

Edit #3: I found S-K powdercoating in Lorain and another place called Xtreme MPC...... more info to come, gotta go to class....

I spoke with a dude at my gas station who was in a red ms3. He was asking me a few things about my car when I noticed how low his was. It was on stock rims but it looked just about tucked like coilovers. I asked him what he was lowered on and without pause he replied "car load of fat people". We both laughed there were 4-5 rather large people inside lol. (laugh)

Have you ever thought about a gold I like it on black. Not the yellow but a darker gold color.

I dig the bronze look, but:

1. I painted my calipers red, and that one thread you gave me it just doesn't look right... I want to keep a black/red theme, not murdered blackout

2. I love the subies, but don't want to copy, ya know? when i think of bronze I automatically envision a 2004 STi in bright blue with gold rims....

anyways i shot some emails out and am checking now to see if anyone around me will powdercoat for cheap.... then I start looking for RX-8 rims (or other mazda rims) to use as a spare set....

we have dark bronze wheels on our grey 3...looks real nice...but we painted our calipers black and have red pads

yeah, dark bronze wheels are definitely cool... pics????? I painted the calipers red believing deep down in my heart that someday, just maybe someday, I would buy/create a set of black rims and red lip....
