Has anyone installed a dead pedal on top of the carpet? I feel like I'm going to wear a hole in the carpet within a few months.

LOL same for me, my Mazda5 '06 had almost a hole in the carpet, I think i will buy an automatic kit and put the dead pedal, brake and gaz pedal.

I would like to add one to my 5 as well. I know Mazda has dead pedals for the MS3 and Miata, I am wondering if they would fit. I may pick one up and give it a shot. If I do, I will post.

I found a source on another mazda forum (http://www.mazda 3forums.com/index.php?topic=13991.960) I'm sure it will fit the 5 since its built on the 3 platform. btw, change the "dot" to a period in the url.

Copy and paste, but remove the space after "mazda"

I'm waiting to hear back from the seller. I'm 99.9% sure the deadpedal he sells will fit.

2008 Mazda5 dead pedal

Here is the dead pedal I installed on our 2008 Mazda5 GT. Its a Heavy-Duty Self-Adhesive Rubber Safety Step Tread Strip 4" x 17". It is made of an all-season Matte Black rubber with a raised-diamond pattern that is peel and stick. It's easy to install and an inexpensive solution that does not take up much space and protects the carpet from wear and dirt. I have the other one in another car and it is still working well after almost 10 years of use.

I made a template of the area of the carpeted bump I wanted to cover by cutting cardboard with scissors, then traced that shape onto a piece of .100" aluminum. Cut that out and mounted it with the male side (hooks) of velcro.

I can remove it for cleaning or to give it a polish once a year. looks good, matches the dashboard kinda.

I was planning to do something like that and already bought 2 pcs of 4 x 8 aluminum checkered board one is 0.125" and another is 0.062" thinking of using the thin one for this and the 1/8" for custom pedals to match.

Question to you 5phreak: with the velcro, does it move a lot? I was thinking of holding it with screws but afraid I might hit something on the underside of the floor(gas/break lines)

Do you have any pics?

Don't use velcro. It sucks ass. (gossip)

:)

Use short around 3/4" screws will be fine. NO you're not going to hit anything. I used screws, did not even make it but 1/6 the way into the metal. The carpet is what hold it in place the most.

Here is what I used:

Here are all of them...they are MADE FOR THIS.

Hope that helps.

Here is the picture of what I did. I opted for the velcro setup for now. This is with a 0.062" thickness aluminum checkered board. Will try it out for a while , will be making a 0.125" later if this will not work out.

Huh?

the Velcro holds so well, it's difficult to take it off when cleaning.

So instead of wearing a hole in the carpet, you're ripping the carpet off little by little each time you vacuum?

Just kidding around, but really see the irony in that ? :)
