ok so i just got a 97 mx6 in decent shape for a good price but it i'snt running right it idles at 3000 in park or neutral it gets less than 20 miles a gallon it less power than it should threw all rpm ranges and it falls on its face from a stop to about 40 mph if you give it more than 30% throttle. the check engine light is on for an iac problem p1401 and a tps circuit no voltage. after i pulled the codes i tested the tps to make sure it had voltage on the reference circuit and it had 5 volts then i checked the sensor to make sure it changed resistance when u moved it and it made a clean sweep then i tested the wire at the pcm to make sure the whole circuit was good and the voltage was .48v at 0% and 4.33v at wot. I am going to pull the iac today to clean it and the throttle body and do some more checking but if any one else has any ideas i would be happy to hear them.

KLZE!!! That sucks man, i've yet to hear of an engine doing that on an MX6, could it be the timing possibly? I'm curious to know too... good luck dude.

i had this issue on my last pgt after a motor swap. well sounds like it anyways and it ended up beign weak spark. id affix an external coil and hei module into your ignition setup if youd like a wiring diagram im sure i can find you one.

definitely look into the IAC first. That will cause the high idle and will cause performance issues. Can also try adjusting the idle screw on the TB to get the idle back down some after figuring out the IAC.
