New rotors. Who's got them?

I need new rotors. Mine can't be turned again and they're shaking like crazy. I've still got a set of fresh HPS pads, so I just need the front rotors. Looking for some inexpensive, lightweight slotted rotors. What do you recommend?

i have dba's on my car and they are awesome. i ordered my stuff through jscspeed. talk to justin. thats who i ordered my stuff through.

Can't say from experience yet, but they both provide:

*Increased intial "bite" response
*Improved wet weather response
*Reduced pad glazing
*OE vane designs, including casting part line location
*Machining designs engineered for optimal rotor integrity
*Double-disc ground for a consistent friction surface and better pad bed-in
*Mill-Balanced for vibration-free performance
*Black e-coating on non friction surfaces provides lasting, attractive looks
*Enhances open wheel appearance

The only difference I see is the design of the slots.

I have rotors and Pads form F@mazda, slotted all the way, and no issues or problems after a year of using them, (or 16,000 miles).

Actually, the one cool difference I see is that the DBA rotors have the temperature indicator strips. If you see the three color strips on the edge, each one represents a different temperature threshold. I believe if/when the rotor temp exceeds one of the limits, the particular color strip turns black (permanently). For example, green would be 800 degrees, yellow 900 and red 1000 (not exactly, but I'm sure DBA includes that data when you buy the rotors).

Either way, you can't go wrong. I would probably go with the lower cost one.

DBA doesn't use the OEM vane design, as far as I know...

They use the "kangaroo paw" design, which should be better than the OEM straight-vaned design...

Looks like the dba's are a good choice. Now, I don't want to get into a huge debate, so I'll just say that I'm going to go with the slotted ones. Unless there is a compelling reason to get drilled.

Get slotted. There is no good reason at all to buy drilled rotors. Period.

I wish DBA made a non-slotted "blank" as well, as it would make my rotor-replacement decision much easier...

I don't know anything about brakes, so i was wondering what the advantages were to having slotted rotors.... and why not drilled???? I don't want to start anything, but I honestly have no clue, except I thought Slotted/Drilled were the best + they looked cool.

The holes in the rotors are drilled. Because of that, most, of not all, will develop cracks over time. The only different ones you will find on $130,000 Porsches and other supercars, but those are rotors (often carbon) cast WITH the holes for extra cooling.

X-Drilled is nothing more than eye candy at best. It offers less surface area = less cooling = less braking power. Not that you'd REALLY notice any reduction in braking power, but to me they are not a good choice given they usually crack.

Even the high-end cars with their "cast" hole rotors will crack before a solid one...

Your post sums it up though.

Slots AND holes are also both harder on your brake pads, meaning you'll see accelerated wear.

The argument is tirelessly made that slots "help clean the pad surface" or "prevent poor performance due to pad out-gassing" but the fact of the matter is that with today's pad compounds, none of this is necessary or even measurably beneficial.

Slots DO tend to increase the feel of pad "bite," (since they tend to grind away the pad more quickly) but that doesn't affect stopping distance.

Give me a quality set of solid rotors over an otherwise identical slotted, drilled, or slotted/drilled rotor any day. ;)

im pretty sure they do. i could have sworn that ive seen them before..

Uh oh, you got him started. I'm pretty much set on the dba slotted, so go ahead and take this thread where ever it needs to go.

lol..werd. like i said talk to jscspeed. they gave me a really good deal on them. plus they have a discount going on with all of there stuff right now i think.
