Engine lashing on V6 Mazda6

Hey everyone,

I'm totally new to Mazda6's so I need some help from all of you. My gf's dad bought a used/lightly wrecked V6 M6 and he got all of the body work fixed. However, the engine keeps lashing forward quite violently when shifting from P to R and N to D. We thought it was the engine mounts but after replacing them all, the lashing is still there.

Can anyone take a picture of underneath their engine for me please? I feel like there is something missing from the front.. there are only 3 engine mounts (2 sides and 1 rear) and this is a big heavy engine to have no support on the front in my opinion. I just wanna make sure nothing else is missing..

If there's nothing there, then it could be a transmission issue.. which would suck severely. Thanks for your help guys, I appreciate it.

go to a mechanic lol. thats about the best advice your going to see. something internal to the trans sounds fuckked.

does it shift harshly driving in D?

either the valvebody is ******, or the wrong fluid is used
the V6 auto uses the Toyota ATF T-IV IIRC... so if someone put the wrong s*** in (like all old school dumbass mechanics still do... they think ATF = dex/merc) then it can cause this... check the fluid and you might want to flush it out with some cheap T-IV and see what happens... if it still persists, then it might be actual mechanical issues... have the dealer check it out too

I think you're onto something. I went over there the other day and I saw a couple quarts of generic Mercon III ATF so I'm thinking her genius dad poured some of that in there. I'll have to find out for sure though.. good call on that one Edwin.

And how sure are you about the ATF type? I searched a lot and came up with the same fluid as the P5, which is the M-V formula.

I don't have TFM!! But thanks anyway, I realize they're not the same tranny.. but I figured Mazda would've still used the same fluid. I'll trust you guys tho, and I'll make sure to get the right fluid for it.

Awesome, never knew they had those available.

It doesn't really specify one ATF for the 4-cyl and another for the V6. Just says ATF M-V but doesn't specify the engine..

As much as TheMAN can piss me off sometimes with his smart ass remarks, I do know that he knows his s*** about any Mazda. So I'll believe him that it takes the T-IV instead of the M-V.. but the manual doesn't specify it.

6 speed auto is the oddball but I think it was only certain years as well so check the dipstick to be 100% sure

05-08 V6 = 6 speed auto
