alright so i changed my oil today. i used valvoline synthetic. i started up the car and let it run for a while. i came back and it was making a really slow weird noise, and there was smoke coming from the engine bay and out the exhaust. the exhaust was also gurgling. i have no idea whats wrong. i used 10w-30 but i accedently used a quart of 20w-50 in the mix. im not sure if that would cause my car to s*** out on me.

help, thanks

P.S. i put in 3.5 quarts, it started smoking, so i figured i put in too much. i checked the dipstick and it was a little bit over full. so i drained out some oil, started the car up again, and it started smoking again after about 5 minutes. i checked the dip stick and it shows that the oil is 3/4 full.

isnt too much oil bad? Owners Manual call 3.7 with filter change. I use 10w 30

drain it and fill it all with 10-30 ASAP!!. since you mixed in a different weight its gonna layer and not mix.

Not that it will matter, but specs call for 5-30, and if its to clean up / flush the system, the 5 weight might help.

i typically use the 5w30. i would just do the flush and change. let it drain pretty good. not sure on the filter but it probably would be fine and you wouldnt need a new one. but do it quick

its all full synthetic. just when i picked up the oil at the store today, some retard put a 20w-50 in the 10w-30 section, so yeah i didnt look at the label untill after i poured it in. but seriouslt i dont think that the different oil weights would make it burn like that

i say put in mobil one 5w30 synthetic and put in 2.8 litres but drain out all the old stuff
