i googled the info and cannot find it. im hoping someone on here can help me out. can u swap a 2004 STI turbo into a 2003 MSP? and what is the size difference if any? possible drawbacks?

because a shop around town told me instead of rebuilding my turbo. that they have one from a 04 STI that i can just buy and put in my car. i just want to make sure that i have no problems with it

im assuming they know what they are talking about. i just want to know if anyone has ever heard of such a thing

it depends on what kind of turbo it is...you will probably need more than just the turbo itself if it's not a T2...you'd need a turbo manifold, downpipe, etc. it would probably end up costing more than it would just to have it rebuilt. MPNick in NJ rebuilds our turbos and also upgrades them. i want to say it's 550 - 650 for a performance rebuild...not sure about his other prices.

Hey, is he still offering that service? I think he puts a GT28 compressor wheel in a milled-out GT25 compressor housing, right? I think I'll have this done in the spring if he's still doing it then. (burnout)

Buy a new turbo from protegegarage.com Ken will hook you up just give him a call. And IDK what your knowledge of the MSP and it's drivetrain is...but I doubt the MSP would like a STI turbo. I imagine it's larger, and the MSP's toothpicks for rods wouldn't like that very much.

Then even if you do pick up the STI turbo you will basically be buying a whole new turbo setup, because you will need manifold, oil lines, downpipe, etc, etc. Not to mention tunning for that setup.

IMO I wouldn't even consider it.

he was as of this time last year. i have the t28 wheel in a t25 housing...i love it. at 8psi, it'll get up and go. the only way i was able to get in contact with him was to go to his profile on the forum and click the 'send email to member' link.

It is a vf39 and will not work without a custom mani and downpipe. That's if It fits without having to buy slim fans and a turbo that size you would have to upgrade your intercooler. If your getting my drift it's going to be a lot of work.

shop sounds like some hicks

duh a turbo's a turbo' aint its? my deasle truck as one of dem, lets see if she'll fit in yo car, hicup...
