my pops got a g37S coupe

Who cares if the new G37 is a tad faster then our cars............

Good question but I would like to add to that; who cares about any of the other crap in this thread? Oh it only has 2 doors, it cost more, i can haul more, i paid less, the glove box is better on the MS3, etc....grow up people. It's like watching a bad case of my dad can beat up your dad syndrome. It's a different car....get over it.

Now I am giving you all a warning here...I am about to say something negative about them MS3, so if you are sensitive to this sort of thing, you should x out of this thread....

THE MS3 ISN'T THE BEST CAR IN THE WORLD PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i got my speed 3 last july.
i come back from school for thanksgiving and my dad has a 2004 porsche 911 turbo cabriolet...
i should say though that before i had the speed my dad was driving his magnum srt8, and before that it was a 98' jag xjr and before that it was a GMC typhoon... i dont think ill ever be able to 1-up my pops

Man, he had a Typhoon? That's pretty awesome.

The two I have run into around Milwaukee wern't faster at all, pulled them straight and into corners, BMMER's too even a M3, M5 kinda left me a little.
MSCAI/MSCBE but we wern't racing, just trying to get in to the same whole in traffic.

Current gen M3's can run high 12 second quarters off of the show room floor. Must have been an older one.

But give OP dad's his due. The G37 is a nice car. It is a very nice luxury sedan with good but not exceptional performance. Think of it as four door Z car. It is worth its extra price.

Our MS3's serve a completely different mission, and serve it very well -- just different, and far more affordably.

Some people here have broken into the high 12s with just motor mount and slicks so its not hard to think that it would be a close race when there isn't launching involved.

Well, I'm running 13.4's at 106-107 on street tires with a good CAI and 3 inch catless dp/rp. 0-60 is 5.1-5.2. 0-100 is about 11.4-11.6 seconds. My 60-100 mph times (probably the most valuable in this type discussion) are around 6.4 seconds.

I cannot run with a new generation M3 at launch or up top either. I've tried.

They are at least 1.2 seconds quicker to 100 than my best times and at least half of that is in gain above 60 mph. They put down 414 horses at the flywheel and weigh about 3600 lbs. Do the math. Typical times for them out of the box is 12.6-12.7 seconds in the quarter at 112 mph.

I'm running pretty well, but not that well.

i actually think of it as a better looking 370z, because my dad actually got the coupe, not the sedan

and i believe it has excellent performance for it's class. i think it's considered an upscale mid-price in the 35-$45k range. my dad's is actually optioned out to an msrp of $44k, but there was an instant $5k off at that dealer.

but there's honestly not many cars in its class, and the ones that you can put in that price range and style don't really have the power. you can kinda put the mustang, camaro, challenger in with it but they're not considered luxury and they are heavy hogs and are expensive to option out. the bmw 335 2dr is around the same price if you don't put a lot of options in it, but still has less hp and tq.

the only other car my dad was kinda looking at in that class was the audi a5, but the regular a5 wasn't anywhere near the power, and the s5 started at like $10k more than the g37 with a crapload of options

Yes, the coupe is a very nice car and better optioned than the 335. But for some reason, the 335i coupe is fast and quick. I mean not M3 fast, but damn close to it. I think they are fibbing about the hp on that one.

I can pull on one from a roll, but their published quarter mile times -- 13.4 seconds at 105, are almost identical to my 13.4 at 106-107 with mods. That is a half second (five car lengths) quicker than the G37 coupe in the quarter.

Even so, I like the Infiniti better. Nice car. And it will be a lot more reliable than the Bimmer. Someone I work with has a G37 sedan and it's quite a nice upscale ride.

ford windstar > bugatti veyron because it can carry more people

geo prism > suzuki hayabusa because you can drive in the rain and stay dry

go kart > harrier jet cuz i don't know how to fly

oh and here are the pics of the owners manual. i put the one from the ms3 next to it to make a comparison. it has velcro on the botton because it would never fit inside the glovebox, but it just goes on the carpet under the rear hatch and the velcro stops it from going anywhere. the car also came with a medical kit that tucks away nicely in a little cubby in the back

the case also contains a really nice pen

the manual is probably so big because there's a lot of technical jargan that goes along with the nav system and whatnot. im gonna have to school him on most of the stuff im sure, but im definitely jealous of his nav. you can program any type of maintenance interval you want, very large display, the backup camera system is awesome, and it has ipod integration and a built in hard drive. and a whole bunch of other tidbits

the one thing i noticed about it right away that i didn't like was the headroom. at 6'2'' i was grazing the ceiling at the lowest seat setting

sure do. father's got a '97 Porsche 911 c2S (last of the oil coiled 911's, naturally aspirated with the turbo body.)

Beautiful car. Considered by collectors to be one of the most desireable 911's.

Didn't you mean "air cooled"?
