? Tell me the differences between MZSPD3 2.3 engine and the N/A 2.3

I'm new to this forum and the Mazda 2.3 engine. Could someone please tell me differences between the MZSPD3 2.3 engine and the N/A 2.3. I want to build up an engine for high boost so if there is nothing different between the two other than pistons, rods, and cam driven fuel pump then ill just get the N/A 2.3. Any info would be great. Thanks!

Hiboost makes a turbo kit for the MZ3, they run 8psi on stock internals. I wouldnt suggest going much higher than that.

I'm going to build a custom turbo kit with probably a 72mm turbo but thanks for the info. The reason I even asked this question is, well read below

*The engine is going to get aftermarket pistons and rods
*Huge turbo starting with a 72mm
*fuel system to support power goals, external fuel pump etc..
*standalone ecu

So the main concern is does the MZSPD3 head flow better and is the block stronger (has more ribs, open deck or closed) is the oiling system better etc..

You will not make power and run out of fuel with a "Huge Turbo 72mm" on the DI motor. You need to get an N/A block and build it. You will not make any sort of high power on either stock block.

the motors are 100% different. except they r both 2.3. Ford actually makes the direct injected turbo 2.3

the heads between the two engines are interchangeable. The mazdaspeed engine has slightly stronger rods and a much beefier crankshaft. Forged internals are made for both. Both engines carry FOMOCO stamps in random places.
