my pops got a g37S coupe

yea it's manual...whenver you see a g37 with the red "s" it stands for the sport package, which is a 6speed manual.

im not sure about the 0-60 times for the infiniti, but the 370z has gotten times of 4.7. the difference in weight is about 300lbs, so my guess is the g37 might be able to hit 60 right around 5 even

go on MyG37 . c o m

some guys have run mid 13's with the G37.

one guy said he had to powershift to do so

i haven't driven his car yet (it only has 30 miles on it so it shouldn't be driven hard for a little bit anyway). and the 335s are only 35 more hp than the ms3, but the g37 is over 65 more hp than the ms3.

he will let me drive it in the near future, and im sure im gonna have to be the one to fill him in on technology. the car comes with a hard drive for music and he has no clue, the NAV is different from his charger's NAV so i'll school him on that, and various other tidbits

335i's are under rated.

plenty of guys haave dynoed it and put down nearly 330 horse and 350 tq...stock

they run mid 13's consistently

G37's range between 13.5 and low 14's

styling wise. i like the G37 better than the G35. G35 looks outdated

LOL...you posted in a MS3 section. Bound to happen. Don't mind them here. Congrats for your dad. Hope you get to enjoy it with him.

You're just upset coz I beat you to it!

I'm just poking fun. I just find it odd that someone would consider it strange for a bunch of car enthusiasts on a public forum to bench race.

Come on - that's just what we do!

you see i originally wanted the route of this thread to go into a bunch of "1-upper" stories, but it ended up just becoming another "drivers race" or "with a cai and turbo inlet you could leave ________ in the dust" sort of thread

makes me miss the gixxer forum when ppl would tell others who wanted to mod their bikes to "shut the **** up and learn how to ride"

No, not close.
It would be like you were standing still.

So why would a MS3 with the mods in question be so much slower than an 335i? That has not been my experience, on the highway or in "magazine" or "bench" racing.

Compare the attached acceleration curve on the 335i, (courtesy of Road and Track) especially from 60-100 mph or higher, but just about anywhere above 30 mph (we do have our launch problems), with the attached accelerometer run on my lightly modded MS3.

Perhaps this explains why I have had no problem (with modest mods) pulling away from 335i's at highway speeds, and probably could give one a very serious run for the money even from a dig. Apologies for poor res graphics. Will try to post a clearer one later.

Oh theres no comparison. And the G's glove box is a joke, especially compared to the 3's. And you should see the size of that cars owners manual, ill take a pic of it sometime

Right there with ya...

i knew this would turn into a 'which is faster' argument. not necessarily a bad thing though i suppose. i think the g37's are a beautiful car, wouldn't change a thing about them, especially in the pearl white color. tell your pops congrats, and that your car is still faster.

Who cares if the new G37 is a tad faster then our cars! The local dealership in Orlando has them for $41-$45K, I paid $20K less for my Speed3. Same thing with a 335i, that's a $45-$50K car. I think everyone who's got a Speed3 should be pretty happy of how fast and capable our cars are. It's affordable speed with pretty decent styling. Who else can offer that, Cobalt or a Neon? No thanks. Look at Cobalt SS, cost as much as our cars, but they suck so bad. My buddy's got one, the day he drove it of the lot the suspension made a s*** load of noise, no independent rear suspension, can't put your spare on the front two tires...
But anyways, we are comparing G37 to a Speed3. $20K difference in price, but pretty much same speed, minus nice luxury bits. Drop that extra $20K into our cars and you'll have hard time seeing G37 in your rear view mirror.

The two I have run into around Milwaukee wern't faster at all, pulled them straight and into corners, BMMER's too even a M3, M5 kinda left me a little.
MSCAI/MSCBE but we wern't racing, just trying to get in to the same whole in traffic.

Yeah you have a good point.

i got my speed 3 last july.
i come back from school for thanksgiving and my dad has a 2004 porsche 911 turbo cabriolet...
i should say though that before i had the speed my dad was driving his magnum srt8, and before that it was a 98' jag xjr and before that it was a GMC typhoon... i dont think ill ever be able to 1-up my pops

As I stated previously, that comment was not to be taken seriously.

Sorry, but I don't get it about the 335i.
If it's faster or slower or whatever, why should I care? I don't own one.
Also, like the MS3, the 335i is not about straight line performance. It would be like comparing the lap times of 2 pickup trucks on a road racing course.

Anyone that does street race with their 335i needs to grow up and learn how to drive the car properly. Any moron can plant his right foot on the accel pedal.
