so i put it on and i'm getting backfire 1-2nd shift and 2-3
it's like a little pop.

is this normal? car actually feels slower for some reason, yes i checked the recirc hose and vacuum, they are on tight, no leaks

it felt faster with the stock bpv

i installed the turbo inlet and cobb intake at the same time, double checked all connections on that also.

I dunno my buddy runs recirc with his ssqv and he backfires like a mother ****** all the time. I wouldn't worry about it if its just inbetween shifts. But don't mind me right now. I'm really drunk. Hahahahahaha

First, let me say that I am not a fanboy for any of the aftermarket BOV's, even if they are running full recirc. If the stock BPV is not shown to be leaking, I don't think there is any reason to mess with it, and have not done so.

Second, even the stock pure BPV can make the backfire or pop sound under certain WOT shifting situations.

So, without hearing the sound with my own ears, I really can't say that there is any real problem.

Final thought. If OP is, indeed, running with the recirc adapter properly installed, I would wonder if there is something about the two stage operation (two valves, one to open under light boost shifting and a second, larger one under WOT high rpm situations that may be producing the effect.

With the stock BPV I rarely get any pop or backfire. But it does happen.

You need to try ANY aftermarket bov/bpv. The stock bpv is a leaky piece of s***. Mine wasn't holding boost with 1,000 miles on the car. Night and day difference with an aftermarket.

If your using the First generation SSQV for some reason you will get poping between shifts, mine didn't do it for a week then it started and it just got progressively worse, it was very strange, took it apart and checked the diaphragms and they were all good, my only conclusion was that the inline VAC filter must have been dirty and it was not able to pull the plungers full open?? so I went back to forge and no more popping, and now to the TurboSmart running recirc and have no popping.

My buddies 2nd gen SSQV does it only every once in a while and that's it, so who really knows what's causing it??

You don't NEED to try any aftermarket bov/bpv. If your stock bpv isn't leaking then there's no dire need to purchase an aftermarket one. Did you have a boost gauge/dashhawk to monitor your boost levels when you determined that your stocker was indeed a leaky piece of s***?

mine is the 2nd gen with the fins
it's random sometimes it does it sometimes it doesnt
i was thinking about forge but dont like having to re grease it every so often

Well, if a dragstrip 13.4 second quarter at 107 on stock tires and rims is a leaking BPV, then I must be able to run . . . what . . . 11's with an aftermarket BPV? lol.

If it's really leaking that's one thing, but don't assume they all do. Lots of guys running low 13's high 12's (with drag radials) on stock BPV. Don't assume.

There are some performance parameters that an accelerometer can show that you can't get from a Dash Hawk or from the drag strip slip. Performance "up top" say 60-100 or 110 mph is a good indicator of engine performance. By 60 mph you are into third gear and away from the "engine nanny" torque limits of the lower two gears.

Does this look like a leaking stock BPV? Unless you are hitting 100 mph in less than 11.6 seconds, we don't have much to talk about with BPV's.

I agree with you, but on the other hand if you don't have a DH you could put the money for a DH toward a Forge BPV and be pretty certain you're not leaking any boost.

Personally I want to wait and see how the new TS BPV that has yet to be released by SU ends up performing for people.

I don't plan to touch the stock BPV until then.

I don't have a Dash Hawk. I did hook up a manual vacuum/boost gauge - temporary setup - to check boost during a couple WOT runs in fourth and fifth gear and found I was holding a solid 17 psi with no leak down, so I'm not messing with the BPV for now.

But I'm with you on the new TS BPV, if it ever gets released. If it does not whistle, ping or make other "sick" sounds that are not a part of normal and healthy turbo intake recirc operation, it would be a solid way to have piece of mind.
