Well, after feeling my car pitch & roll on the highway for the past few months ,it's time for some new suspenders. I'm going to order he Tokico strut/spring combo from Protege Garage. Any insights/tips etc.. before I start the install??

Drive it for 50 miles or so, then get it aligned. Then post back here, so we can hear about it!

I think I'm going to save up and replace all the mounts too. You might want to do that so you don't have to do it later?

Protege Garage sells the Tokico Blues/Spring set for 499.99 ...w/ free shipping. Free labor too. (me).

I asked in another thread but never got an answer about whether I should change out the mounts or not. So no?

Not unless they need it, and they shouldn't. I saw a post by Ken from protege garage saying he virtually never sells them. They're just a beefy piece of metal and rubber between the strut and strut tower (and the front should have a bearing to allow for steering motion; unless it feels bumpy or grindy when you turn it or the streeing wheel, it's fine).

Awesome haha. Here I was thinking I would need to save an additional $375 or whatever. That's a relief!

remember to put a washer or two under the top not on the rear shocks otherwise you'll get the infamous tokico clunck. I just did this a few weeks ago and the washers definitely helped but there is still a slightly audible knock when driving. That reminds me, with the rears you have to make sure that the strut mount (top) and spring seat (bottom) are aligned perfectly before reinstalling shock otherwise the whole thing will twist and the spring won't seat right. I'm pretty sure thats my problem but haven't had time to redo everything again yet. good luck.

Hell, no! And if they ever went bad or something, it'd most likely be the front, not all 4, and it's so easy to remove struts and do this, that you could do it yourself, or pay $100 to have someone do it.

Easy Install just watch for rusted endlinks and be prepared to buy some more if they end up breaking (around 33$) each from dealer.

and I have this kit, and bought it from a member last year for 400 :D

Here's whatthey look like with the 17" MSP Racing Harts

and heres what they look like with my old 16" painted stockers

Oh it's lowered and besides the protege doesn't have to be slammed to look good. If you go to low you lose a lot handling prowess. There's a reason why the MSPs weren't riding on the bumpstops from the factory...

Here is Pro5x2's ride b4 his drop. with 17"s

I'll be soaking everything w/ Blaster well in advance for sure! I got a set of Racing Harts off ebay and they'll be going on after some clean up and fresh tires. Can't wait!

cool, cant wait for pics of the picture.
make sure you do a Before and After, and then take another picture after like 3 weeks to compare again cause it'll prob settle in all the way by then :D
Good luck man

the drop looks nice and it is not too low,i love the setup!
how's the feel after changing this suspension kit?
do you replace the bumpstops as well? i heard that if u change the suspension and lowered the car, u need some new bumpstops right?

and did you also change ur endlinks and other stuffs?any clunking noise happen?

sorry for so many questions, coz i am also thinking to have this suspension kit.

thanks a lot.

umm the change is good, ride quality is about the same, it def handles alot better.
Bumpstops, you can get MSP bumpstops from Jason or you can just go ahead and cut your orig. bumpstops in half and use half. As for endlinks i ended up replacing only 1. and no clunk.
