2008 Mazdaspeed 3 Black Mica
Hey guys I need your help. Now I know a little about cars and I really want to just max out my 2008.5 MS3 and I want all of your ideas and input and I will also post all my work and what not but here is what I am looking at. Please give me suggestions and let me know what I will have to do in certain aspects in order to keep my car from exploding LOL (Fingers crossed).

I want to add the following:

From Street Unit - Rods and pistons (for engine strength)

Zex Nitrous Kit - Maybe 75-100 shot

Headers

Drag radials (give me some suggestions... clueless with tires!)

Maybe a better exhaust manifold

Larger Turbo - (obviously a lerger intake and downpipe to go with)

Upgrade the fuel injectors

I know this will all be costly! But I also have possibly 12k Im lookin at playing with. I want all of your suggestions, ideas or thoughts about what I should add and/or take away.

Haha, headers?

If you wanted to make it into a track beast, which is what it appears you want to do, you should bought a WRX, not the Mazdaspeed3.

Anyway, with a bigger turbo you will also need a tune, such as a Cobb AP or CP-E Standback.

I'm not quite sure if bigger injectors are made for our cars yet, I believe the stock ones are more than adequate.

IMO, don't dump 12k into this car, save it for a RWD or AWD car.

What kind of speed are you looking for?

Judging by your signature, you havent done much to the car (1 performance mod?). Why dont you start with your basic bolt ons, see how the car feels and reacts to it, and then go from there? Seems to me like you have a long way to go before you can "max out" your car.

Wow I wish I had 12k for my car. Yeah I have to agree with the previous post. Definitely start where everyone else starts, with bolt-ons. Replace all the engine mounts, intake, turbo inlet, upgraded intercooler (with your cash you would want a FMIC), new blowoff/bypass valve, colder spark-plugs. That covers most of your under the hood bolt ons. Still leaves you with roughly 9K, lol. Complete exhaust do over could run you anywhere between 1.5k and 2.5k depending on what brands you go with. And like previously stated, you would of course want to get either the Cobb AP or Standback along the way to start tuning it. If you just got all that you're looking at a real beast and you'd still probably have at least 5k left. Man that was fun, and also depressing..... : (

Spend 12k on a winter car because your speed will no longer be a DD in a Wisconsin winter.

No offense...

But this statement scares me:

"Hey guys I need your help. Now I know a little about cars and I really want to just max out my 2008.5 MS3..."

The fact that you don't know much tells me that you'll probably damage something and then void the warranty. And then maybe you'll be back here in a year complaining about how Mazda screwed you. Experts have hard enough time trying to do "max" out mods like bigger turbos and such. When novices start playing you get messes like the ones I periodically see at my dealership. I've seen everything from guys have a mess of poorly spliced and protected wire running over the intercooler under the hood to install a turbo timer to poor MS3's who blew a rod becasue they installed a bigger turbo and had no clue on how to tweak it correctly.

Do youself a favor. Trade in your MS3 and buy a 10 year old beater that you won't loose your shirt on and save us all a lot of heart-ache.

Sorry to be so harsh but nothing good can come out of a novice trying to "play mechanic".

dude, listen. this car has not been figured out yet. the best way to get power is by running nitrous. though, this still has not been proven. The motor in the MS3 is new, and has not been figured out yet. There are no other injectors for this car. There isn't even enough fuel that can be delivered to top 380ish whp. The best option RIGHT NOW is just to get fully bolted with a rebuilt stock turbo trying to push 350whp.

If you want to send that 12k to CP-E or Cobb, that could help them figure out this damn ECU and unlock some powa.

Build the motor, improve airflow (intake/dp), slap on larger turbo (twin scroll?), and get engine management/have it tuned. That ought to do it.

Or you could sell your car and buy the MZ3 from PR with 500hp. Prolly cheaper.

This may not seem like the answer you want, but I would strongly suggest spend at least half that in getting an education on how to drive - go to Skip Barber or something, then spend more money on track time, and THEN spend money on modding your car.

I have a friend who would take his 125 hp civic to the track, get blown away by 911s on the straights... and then catch and pass them in the corners because he knew how to drive and the limits of his vehicle.

Best mod is improving driver skill. If you already have this, then go mod, and remember skill isn't just putting one's foot down on go pedal in straight line.

Leave the MS3 as is so you have a reliable/ practical daily. Spend the 12k on a DSM and parts. You will learn everything you ever needed to know about cars and how they work. As well as more than a few new swear words.
