MAZDA5 add-on. poorman's on-star.

:
Mazda 5 GT
I know the Mazda5 may not be that expensive of a car to warrant installing
a sort of tracking device. Like those they have on luxury vehicles.

But as my teenagers now take turns volunteering to drive me to/from work
and they get to 'driver around' in between, We decided we needed to pay extra for 'peace of mind'.

So we have another gadget for our 2006 MAZDA5. It's called gps-snitch.
It can tell us via internet where the vehicle is at any given time. (shows a map and location points) Alerts us when it has moved, and most important, the logs show speed data. We still have not told them the tracking exists.
We are still enjoying how they ask: 'How did you know we're in the mall?'..

I thought I'd share the info. for those looking for 'add-ons' to their MAZDA5.

Well you could just throw a GPS in the spare tire well and check that, I know a guy that did that when he thought his wife was cheating on him and it sucks because she was.

(boom06) (lol2)

Was she driving a Mazda5? possibly the dude she was cheating with wanted her for the car, nothing else (glare)

(Please read: excuse to make the cheated guy feel better)

The snitch found a hiding place. Power will be hard-wired to the +12v car battery.
This way, the thing won't sleep.

The top cover is actually easy to snap out. And the shift handle easy
to remove (twist counter-clockwise).
