What have you done to your P5 today?

Drove it to work today. I've been carrying around a rag to wipe off the oil on the hatch after every time I drive, LOL.

do you get alot of smoke too when its cold? or just oil. i did a compression test and im good. i think the turbo is shot. did you track yours down?

for the head bolts, I'm pretty sure you need a 12 point socket. A breaker bar won't hurt either.

I actually don't get too much blue smoke - a little, but not enough to think I've fried a piston ring or anything. I did a compression test back last August and was 190+ psi across all four cylinders. Nothing has really changed in terms of amount of oil burned so I'm beginning to think it's the turbo as well. I just don't feel like spending $1000+ on a brand new turbo that I can only run 6 psi on when it may not be the issue. I still need to do a leakdown test to be sure.
btw, BC COILOVERS SHIPPED TODAY!!! slammed p5 here i come
Be careful there. I just read from another member that he was having issues with the rear endlinks hitting the rear crossmember if you go too low. That and the coilovers won't fit with the GT Spec rear strut tower bar because the bolts are too short. I read that and was bummed because I really wanted to get the BCs but I have the GT Spec rear cage and I don't want to give it up!

So...any idea on how to get the head bolts off...anything special need to be done as to not break them or anything...

Also...timing belt...how do I get it loose off of the pulleys...any pics...or how to's...I looked but come up empty...

Thanks man...I could tell that they weren't any kind of socket I have...do you know if advance or auto zone rents these out or something...
No twelve point needed. I just pulled off the head of my spare engine the other weekend with a regular six-point allen key and a breaker bar. I don't remember the size of the key though - I'll have to check when I get home but I think it's 10 mm.

oh the Protege uses allen key bolts? Guess that's what you get for listening to me. I know the early protege lx motors (the BP) and my miata motor used 12 point bolts, so I figured mazda stayed consistent. Fail :(

Yea...just noticed that...I have an allen key thing with a lot on them and got one to fit on there, so I am off to autozone/advance to rent one that I can use on the breaker bar...I honestly am impressed in my ability to tear this thing down...especially since I have never done anything harder than a spring install...

Me too... nothing but grins when I added the BCs... though I guess the GT Spec rear setup is out of the picture now, glad to know before I spent much time researching it.
