ultimate shifting machine 1.0

For anyone contemplating the Cobb shift weight, I can say it is worth it. You can cut down the stock one if money is a concern, but for the low price you get a nice looking piece that does the job (especially if you have a CAI, the weight is very noticeable). Shifting is much nicer with the reduced weight, it meshes nicely with the TWM stage 2 shifter.

Congrats on your parts Shredder. I drove my car stock for a year before doing similar mods and as you can see now... its a big difference. Mazda makes some really great cars, its just that the lawyers have them dumb the car down. As you can see, waking it up with a few mods brings it back to where it should be.

Don't stop now... there is soooo much more to be done!!

Its the spin on conversion kit from protegegarage. The filter I have is larger than the oem one used with the kit. Its about 6" deep. K&N #2009

I must advise you the front engine mount is a major PITA to install. I took mine off recently for a dealer visit and havent put it back on yet. Took me as long to take off as to put on. About 4-5 hours to put on. But well worht it.

Yea. The piece that mounts to the engine is near impossible to fit in there. You have to have it perfect to make it even slide in there. Not only that. But the piece that slides on the bottom to the frame of the car has to be on as well when doing this. Once both are aligned the you put on the bolts. I only managed to get 3 of the 4 boltd on. I have no clue how any1 gets the top right one on. Seems like the bumper and radiater would have to come off just to get a look at it.

The piece that mounts to the frame the instructions say slide it in place to align with the existing holes to drill the new hole to put the bolt all the way through. Well I had to beat the s*** out of it just to get it in position. I wish I never un-installed it. Makes me dread putting it back on.

Problem is not too many people know it fits the MS6, but they sell it as an MS3 product only. Not a problem though, glad I can help.

Would this shift wieght be able to be installed on a mazda6? Im looking for the smoother shifts but unfortuanlety dont have the speed6 :-(

does the shifter weight actually make a difference?

Yes, the weight does make a noticeable difference. Imagine moving a five pound weight on the end of your arm, then replace it with a one pound weight (closest analogy I can come up with). Since Cobb isn't making theirs any more, you will either have to luck into finding someone who still has them in stock, or cut down your stock one.
