A strange thing happened

Today with my CD player. I had left a CD in yesterday. It was really wet, rainy, and humid (Chicago).

I pulled the car out of the garage and immediately everything started fogging up. I thought, "open the windows a bit". Then my inside rear view mirror started fogging up as well as my gauge plastic covers!

Got the car warmed up a bit and tired of the AM so pressed "CD" and got nothing. Tried again. Nothing. Thought I might've taken the CD out so I pressed eject and it didn't. Pressed a couple times again and got messages "Check CD" and "CD out", I think. I looked and could see a CD in the carrier.

So, I banged on the panel to the left and right of the stereo and then pressed eject again, and it came out.

It was gummed up with smears and black swirly marks. My suspicion? It had condensation and the little rubber wheel or whatever works the thing was slipping instead of gripping.

It works fine now.

Anyone else have this happen?

Wow, that's some serious humidity! I live in Tampa, home of 90% humidity, and I've never had that happen. In any car. And I leave CD's in the in-dash units all the time, despite the humidity and the Summer heat.

I had a similar problem before. The CD wouldn't come out also and eject didn't help either. my CD changer didn't respond either. But I don't know why, it worked after a day. It was during the summer and all that, but I didn't have the condensation problem you had.
