New Ride after the MS3 :-)

hows it feel compared to the 3 speed wise

simple answer would probably be "wins"

spec-wise, stock e46 m3 would be 333bhp, 262lb/ft, 3400lbs
redline on this thing is wayyyyyyyy up there too

i can say from personal experience that they don't have too much trouble from a 60mph roll-on against a stock ms3.

hell...i wouldn't mind having an E36 m3, i still think they look good too

Can't really compare the 2. Not in the same class in tersm of engine, price, etc. The speed3 is still my favorite car under 25k. The only thing that I didn't like was FWD. I have always owned AWD and RHD's before the Speed 3 and it's very hard to make the switch.

Join the BMW Car Club and take it to some of our HPDEs. That's what that car is built for. Sooner or later(hopefully sooner) I'll be dumping my MS3 for another M car- unless my local BMW dealer drops the price on that 2003 540i 6-speed again. It's nowdown to $14950. I'm tempted to see if they would go for the MS3+$500-OTD.
Fingers crossed...

sick ride bro. This car is much faster than ms3. M3 becomes alive on the top end while the ms3 dies..

what year is it? 540i's are fun, but repairs are ridiculous. E46 M3 is still my favorite car so far, and I've driven lots of exotics. I'm still debating on getting one, but it would pretty much have to be in the same condition as yours, and I wouldn't want to pay more than $35k out the door. they are going for $25k-32k with 18k-40k miles on them the last time I checked.

It's a 2003, so it has the M Sport bodykit. It looks like an M5 except for the single exhaust. A 540i can be expensive to run, but I do a lot of the wrenching myself and I know the best parts places that offer a healthy CCA discount.

It is a mid 2003. You want to ideally get a 06/2003 thru 2006 so that the bearing recall issue is eliminated. I test drove 21 cars over a period of 2 months before I decided on this one.

I have been looking at M's for along time, but have always been leary of the maintenance on them...you can't beat the look of a BMW IMO.(2thumbs)
