Turbo Problems!!

dang...i just changed the oil....oh well, ill pick up some plugs and oil soon.

so do yall think that the o2 should really be moved or not? because right now its not acting as bad as it was before...yes still rich, but not as drastic

hey i just found this explanation on the intraweb....does it apply to our cars as well?

Oh, and the only time the O2 sensor is used is during Closed loop operation. this it the time when the voltaged in the narrow band O2 sensor fluctuates from .2v to .8v or wahtever as the ECU reads the AF reading to try to maintain a stoich mixture. Closed loop operation only happens during idle and part throttle. During WOT or beyond a certain throttle position %, the ECU switches over to pre-programmed fuel and timing maps based on readings taken from the MAP/AFM/MAF sensor. the ECU sees X amount of air from the airflow sensor, and compares it w/ the fuel and timing tables programmed into the chip and then knows how much fuel it should add. During this time the ECU doesnt run off the O2 sensor readings at all, this is called Open Loop operation.

so this means that the o2 sensor couldnt be causing my problems at WOT its just the crappy stock maps

im considering marrying the dump....ive been searching and it appears that it can also make your wideband inaccurate???

Id like to keep it open, but if its causing so many tuning problems i may have to marry it...

EDIT: could the fact that im pushing more air per psi than the stock turbo be affecting this?

You want your wideband reading the complete exhaust flow. An exhausty dump ahead of or around the wideband sensor will definitely throw off readings. Honestly, unless it's some big inconvenience, I'd reattach the dump tube.

i probably will, i just gotta get the money to buy the flex pipe, flanges, pipe etc...

will the ssafc in its stock form (no tuning) correct alot of the running rich problems im having?

The AFC in its "stock" form with the supermap only makes changes in boost. Unless you are only running rich in boost (normal), it won't help anything. Also, I'd highly advise you get everything worked out before you add mods. Eliminate problem spots while there are less places for problems to be had.

also should the wideband sensor be after the dump even if its routed back into the exhaust? or can it be before it?

I've always heard the wideband should be 14-18 inches behind the turbo for life reasons. If the dump is reconnected to the exhaust it should make any difference (so long as the dump is not bypassing the wideband). Just remember you want the wideband taking readings in a spot that is representative of the exhaust as a whole.
