auto mechanics puzzle me because I always seem to know more than they do about my car? I'm like aren't you certified? I still don't know what certified is to them. I know cars change every 2 to 4 years, but I think auto mechanics should be educated more. I went to go look at a ms6 a couple weeks ago and I asked them about the mods that mazda made for the car(mazdaspeed dealer too), and the guy looked puzzled, and I asked the guy about the ms cai for the ms3, and he kept telling me it only produces sound and doesn't really add horsepower, but the ms cat back would. I'm like ok?

This happens to me a lot...me knowing more than the mechanic, especially after my internship at a Racing Team last summer...but there are so many other idiots out there that just take the mechanics word, no matter what they say

right now Think Resources because I've been to about at least 15 interviews in the last 3 weeks and everyone is low balling with the econ., and I didn't want to do construction(civil engineering just seems bad now) for the roswell government which was paying fairly high, or at least I though. I have a cousin that works for Boeing in Washington, and he wants me to work out there with him and take his job within the next 3 years, so I'm just passing time for right now getting experience. I'm starting monday, but I'm not 100 percent sure on what I'll be doing exactly because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do during the interviews, so they are letting me test different things out, but they've told me some electrical, something with above/below ground storage tanks repair and building, or servicing pipelines in Roswell, Cumming, or Norcross at $55k for right now.
At least you are right at the Gatech avg for salary after graduating and you get to try out different fields to see what you like...thats enough thread jacking for me...sorry to the OP

I am sorry. I am not familiar. I am glad that you are in the field. I am electrical engineer with major in diesel power generators. My experience is to rebuilt (or install new) in oil tanker ships diesel engine-generators. I was always with the OEM specs and by the book. Never had any issue. I love cars and maybe next year open my own performance car service shop. I will look for good educated mechanics.
Just a little update, owners manual says rear diff fluid should be replaced every 45Km (28,100 miles) if driving in dusty, sandy or wet condition, extended periods of idling or low speed operation, or repeated short trips of less than 16 km (10 miles). Unless you live in an area that has no traffic, it sounds like the dealer was right about getting it replaced. I'll see if I can get that done in the next few weeks since I'm already at 36K.
With regards to coolant, the dealer is still wrong. The earliest it says to flush would be at 60K for non-FL22 type coolant.
It says nothing about bleeding the brakes except to inspect fluid levels every 3,000 miles. Spark plugs are due at 45K (note to self, don't forget)

wow the dealer I take my car to is totally retarded. He said my car doesn't need plugs until 75k!! The manual says 45k so I need to do them asap. Also gonna have the read diff changed just to be safe. Since it doesn't say anywhere when they should change the transmission fluid what the hell do we do? my car has 46k miles on it now. The transmission is feeling funny when I change from 1st so second. Will they try to tell me that I didn't get it changed when I was suppposed to so it is on me?
