Waterproofing/Water-resisting your CAI

Anybody have any luck with the AEM bypass valve? Saw that they make it for various intake tube diameters.

AEM claims that it makes your CAI system waterproof. I can't help but think that this valve would restrict or disrupt the smooth airflow into the throttle-body. Am I right? Anybody notice less power after installing it?

Also, I saw that there is now an "Air Filter Hydroshield"

Basically a cover for your CAI air filter. Just makes it water-resistant, NOT waterproof. Anybody had any luck with one of these?

Just looking for something to help with CELs that I get sometimes driving in heavy rain no matter how careful I am on the gas pedal.

Any opinions?

The Hydroshield works well! I have it and water can't get on the filter. The AEM bypass is a joke. You would have to submerged the whole filter in order for the bypass to be of any benefit. The bypass does also make you lose some hp. For the CELs you sometimes get while driving in heavy rain the hydroshield will help you a lot! I think it will prevent you from getting those CELs...

Thanks a bunch for your insight! Think I'll get me one of those new-fangled-hydroshield-thingykabobbers! Get rid of those nasty CELs...

Well I have to put in my input here and ask your guy's opinion. Driving to school today, I had a CEL come on and it's been raining pretty steady for the last day and a half. It isn't heavy and it came on after leaving from a stop light behind another car. I have the Injen CAI with the Hydroshield and I'm trying to determine before I pull the codes if the water caused this and letting it dry will take care of it, or if it's something unrelated to the intake. I also noticed the battery light would flicker every now and then, but never came on. Any ideas?
