Corksport intake and turbo inlet installed...

:
2004 Subaru WRX STI
I installed the Corksport short ram intake and turbo inlet today. I replaced my Cobb SRI and stock inlet. The install was pretty straightforward with good instructions from Corksport. Everything fit OK except the MAF sensor doesn't sit entirely flush with the MAF housing. The hole CS made in the MAF housing for the sensor is big enough for the sensor to fit snug until it hits the o-ring of the sensor. It will absolutely not go any further and I didn't want to break the sensor by torquing down the allen screws to try and force the sensor to sit flush. I'm thinking its still sealed based on how tight the damn thing fits.

My impressions are good so far. The turbo spools faster and just driving around in vacuum the throttle is way more responsive. I got a little KR at WOT but really I want to give more time for the ECU to learn and settle in the LTFT's before I can give impressions on driving at WOT. The idle is great and no CEL's or any issues so far. Overall its hard to beat an SRI and turbo inlet for such a low price.

good for you buying this! People out there need to take advantage of that low price for the intake and inlet instead of coughing out so much for each individually.

I would be all over that if I didnt have an SRI already, it kinda looks cheaply made in the pic but Im sure its good in person. Will adding a Inlet tube affect my tune at all?

just out of curiosity, why did you switch sri's also? why not just the turbo inlet? I know there is a deal of you buy both, but it still cant be cheaper then just the inlet

The CS SRI comes with the turbo inlet. You can't just buy one or the other. You get both together for $239.

I think mine will FINALLY arrive today...after a month long wait...serisouly...

I ordered it from PG a month ago, then there were supply issues...then it finally got sent out last week only to be held up in Arkansas due to inclement weather according to UPS.

Today, I hope, is the day!!!...Bluto I will let you know how my MAF fits...I have a machine shop at my disposal at Ferrari. If I have the same issue I will see if i can machine it for a better fit, and let you know the results.

Great, please post back your impressions... thanks man

Does the Corksport SRI fasten to the battery box like the Cobb and CP-E or did they come up with a different way to support it? I couldn't tell from the picture on their site.

INSTALLED....

Well I got home last night and as expected it was waiting for me and I got right to the install...upon inspection I am not goign to lie I was a little disappointed in the quality of the inlet pipe. There was a rather large amount of weld flashing on the inside and even a piece of aluminum that was thin and pulled right off...that would of been bad had it been sucked into the turbo. The MAF housing also looked like it had been dropped out of the chuck upon machining as there was a chunk missing and it was pretty scratched up...looked almost used...

I didnt have the same problem with the o-ring. Mine slot right in and snugged down nicely.

Initial Driving Impressions were that it didnt really like partial throttle driving, obviously I was taking it easy...I could only take it for a short drive last night as the woman showed up and wanted to hang...so I went for a drive for lunch today and got her nice and warmed up then gave it some schtick...

YES!! hahah its pretty good, a definite improvement in top end it pulls like a banshee no traction in first OR second and I love the way it sounds, after ROMPING on it the ECU obviously recalibrated as it was much smoother...I am probably going to pull the inlet pipe off and go in with a grinder and clean up the flashing as it will annoy me if I dont...but other than that for what you pay its a good product, again just thing a little more quality control would make a big difference...I may try some different spring combinations with my Forge now to get the best balance...its nice I like it....
