Mazda5: Prices paid and related questions

2009 Mazda5 - Picked it Up November 20th, 2008

We bought a 2009 Mazda5 Grand Touring - no additional options. List was $23,345 with delivery. Paid S-Plan $22,099 but then had $1,250 in rebates for $20,849.

Gets a little murky with 6% Michigan sales tax on the $22,099 ($1,336.74) title at $23 and (ugh) documentation fee of $180 so "out the door" was $22,388.74 because the $1,250 comes off after tax is added - thank you Michigan.

The Mazda5 sits next our stored 1985 RX-7 GSL-SE and outside the garage for the 16 yr old is the 1993 MX-3 GS-SE!!!.

2009 Mazda5 Grand Touring

Just picked her up at the port on the 21st fully loaded with every option except NAV got the DVD setup instead all for $22K

Pulled the trigger..

Went and and looked at the black M5 sport yesterday..Very clean interior, a few key scratches on the drivers front door and rear hatch(buffer will take care of 'em)but paint, fo the most part, is in as-new condition, needs new front tires, and a couple of dings on the pass. front door..other than that...a great price for the vehicle no matter how you look at it..(cool)
We bought it for $14,532 o.t.d. I got a 5.0% loan from my credit union, which made it even a sweeter deal..I could buy a 6 yr./100,000 bumper to bumper warranty from Mercury thru my credit union..but I truly don't think
it's worth it. We ended up turning it into a weekend trip and went and toured the Alamo and walked down the riverwalk while we were in San Antonio. The wife followed me back today (3 hours) with the kid...she loves it! I thought she was going to ram my P5 a couple of times cause she was goin so freakin fast!!!(drive2)

Prices are dropping

2009 Mazda5 Sport - Auto
Sunlight Silver Metallic
$17,500 out the door
Purchased 11/25/2008 - South Florida
Did have to use a $1000 mazda onwer loyalty discount plus some incentives to get that price

Could have bought an identical 2008 for $17,042 out the door at another dealer but for $400 more on a 2009 decided it was better for resale value later.

Mazda5. Prices paid and related questions thread

Hello everyone,

I am in Ontario Canada. Been looking around to get the best deal on a mazda 5 to accomodate our family of 4. We have made up our mind on the mazda 5 GT with no additions.

For people in Ontario, what is the best price I can get for a 2009 or 2008 left from last year?

Also can someone pls list the add-ons that we can easily add to the car ourselves once we buy it that are cheaper than the dealer price? We are thinking of racks for the roof, bike racks, lights etc

What are your recommendations and manufacturers/sites to look at

cheers

1st post. Looking at 2008 Mazda5 GT. No Nav or DVD. 12,800 miles.

Got Dealer to $15350. That is without tax and title.

I think it is a fairly good deal. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Just purchased a gray, 2009 sport for $16,200 before tax and and title. Outside DC.

Next step: surprising my wife with some mods she doesn't really want, err doesn't know she wants. (nana)

'09 Mazda5 Sport with manual transmission. I had a choice between $16,000 without zero % financing (current rates are around 4%), or pay $16,500 and get 0% financing for three years.

I went the 0% financing route. After doc fees ($189), tax (6.26%), title, license, and a rear bumper guard, I paid about $18,020. Zero percent financing for three years, starting in three months, and with no money down, the payment will be $500.60.

And of course there's something in the stimulus package for new car buyers - I think that the sales tax will be an above-the-line deduction for next years taxes which will save me about $200 to $250.

Don't be upset but...

If you want to see some more cool stuff, check out the Mazda UK site. That's where I went to check the tow rating on the 5. www.mazda.co.uk
They get different wheels, 7-passenger seating option, diesel engines... Grrr! :)

Wow!

… There are two petrol engines: a lively 1.8-litre MZR 115ps (85kW) with a 5-speed manual transmission; and a powerful 2.0-litre MZR 146ps (107kW), with a 6-speed manual transmission or 5-speed automatic transmission. Then there are two versions of the fuel-efficient common-rail turbo diesel engine – 2.0-litre MZR-CD 110ps (81kW) and 2.0-litre MZR-CD 143ps (105kW), which are combined with a 6-speed manual transmission…

… From inside the car, you can operate the electric doors at the touch of a button. Rear seat passengers can simply pull the handle gently from the interior to activate the electric door mechanism. And for easier entry and exit for third-row passengers, the second-row seats slide forward independently with minimum effort. Electric sliding doors are one of those features – like power steering and central locking – that you soon wonder how you did without!...

…The unique Karakuri seating system adapts in seconds to meet your family’s differing needs, combining with the sliding rear doors to make Mazda5 incredibly easy to load and unload – whether you’re doing the weekly shop or loading up everything you’ll need for a trip to the beach. Use all seven seats, fold five down or choose any combination in between to suit your passengers and luggage. And, best of all, you don’t need to remove them to achieve maximum space…

…Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Traction Control System (TCS) DSC and TCS are standard on Mazda5 Sport and Sport Nav, giving you added control on slippery surfaces….

…Overhead console with sunglasses holder…
Of course, all of the steering wheels were on the wrong side of the car, plus there was no mention of the price of the Mazda5's, nor of the gas mileage.

Hi.

We just bought a GT model (white) today and was looking for some input on how much we paid. We wanted to know if we overpaid for the car. Dealer said he was selling it to me for 22,500. On our contract we see that the seling price is 24,776 which includes 1381 in taxes which brings it to a sale price of 23,395, Right? Title, license and doc fees added another 225. We put 5000 down and there was a 1000 incentive which isn`t reflective in the 24776. Could someone tell me if this sounds right? I have until wednesday to return it if I want. So any promptly replies is greatly appreciated. I also see a service contract fee on my contract. Anyone know what this is?

From how I understand it:

MSRP (with destination, with no add-ons like Navigation, SIRIUS radio, etc) = $23,335 .
Dealer sold it to you for $23,500 ($165 over MSRP), minus $1,000 cash back = $22,500.
+ $1,381 taxes
+ $225 title, license, doc fees
+ service contract fee, probably is extended warranty for $650
=$24,776

Unless it has navigation, yes, it sounds like you overpaid. First thing Tuesday, go to www.mazdausa.com and do a search for Mazda5 GTs in a 250 mile radius. Email three or four of the dealers and ask what their lowest price is on the Mazda5 GT with destination and doc fees included. Compare that to what you paid.

Can you really return the car by Wednesday and get a full refund, or is it that you can return it for an equal vehicle (no change in price paid)?
