access port help.

hey i have someone who was going to sell me his access port and he forgot to unmarry the unit. he tried to get back to the sar but the dealership sold it to someone else and they wont give out his info so he can do this. will it still work on my car? is there any problems that would occur if i was to plug it into my car? he set it all back to the stock settings b 4 he took it out just never unmarried it. cobb says theyll reflash it but it costs almost 400 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bulls*** price if you ask me but whatever.

he said he would compensate for the reflash in the prive and sell me the unit for 100 bucks but i have to eat the costs if it need to be reflashed.

thats not a bull s*** price. I mean think about it, if they didn't charge that much, then someone could flash their car with the map they want, they loan it to another friend and they can flash it. That wouldn't be great business practice for COBB. He will have to get it unmarried from the car if you want to use it, or pay cobb to have it unmarried..

you will have to send it to Cobb to have it unmarried. I think there is a cost involved so you might want to call and check before you buy it.

he set it all back to the stock settings b 4 he took it out just never unmarried it.

wait; if he put it to stock, then that should mean it's uninstalled or 'unmarried'.

how could he have put it back to stock otherwise? when you put it back to stock, the AP when you plug it in gives 'install' as an option, whereas normally it wouldn't if there was a cobb map on the ecu.

maybe i'm missing something here, but mine was as simple as selecting uninstall and it replaced the last map i tried with my saved stock map.

it's now unmarried.

^ you are correct.
OP..I would not chance it. There are two or 3 ap for sale on the forums. In fact I just saw one for 500.00 on the "other" forum.

he said he set the map back to stock on the vehicle. idk. ill ry to find another for 500 shipped. if i cant....ill buy it from him for 100 and try to get a deal from cobb. ill let yal know

yeah uninstalling the map and uninstalling the accessport are two very different things, you can uninstall the map and still use it for gauging etc etc.. dont risk it.

Hi all!

Say if you please, where I can look image to ecu of Mazda MS3 2007 for North America ?
Compatible with the device Cobbtuning (AP) .
For example, image to ecu of Mazda 6 for European market.

Mazda6ecu.jpg

Or the number of program (firmware) ecu Mazda MS3 `07.

Thanks.
Regards.

For those who say you could use the AP and map a car and then give it to a friend to map theirs and it not being good business for Cobb. I would think it to be stupid for them to have the car run as if its mapped with the AP not hooked up. It should only work as mapped with the unit installed/connected. That would be the smart thing imo for Cobb to do.

Meaning that the guy who has the car that is mapped right now, shouldnt even be able to run as if mapped if there is no AP connected to it. That sounds ridiculous. If that was the case, the new owner got lucky as hell and didnt have to pay jack for his car to be mapped

nah. he put the vehicle back to stock before he got rid of it. he thought thats all you needed to do. he had no clue you needed to unmarry the ap from the vehicle. but yea i do agree....why charge someone 400 for a reflash when they can eliminate that all together by just making it inmpossible to run the map without the ap installed. i cant assume it takes much to wipe out the ap then reinstall the software which they dont even need to do. they can just wipe it out. the downloads are all on their website. so theyre basically charging 400 to wipe out the ap. im not an expert on this but i think it wouldnt be more than hooking it up to a comp. wiping out the old data and putting in the correct data for the ms3 and thats that. like i said though idk for sure. well, let shope they understand what my situation is and hook me up.

because some people don't like the idea of having a 700 piece of equipment sitting in their car at all times.

Quite the contrary...I don't think the new car owner got lucky at all. He/she believes they have a car running the stock ecu whereas this is not the case. Not only could this cause an issue during a visit to the dealer it could be disasterious if they start to mod without knowing the ecu has been flashed.

ok....listen. he had the car. he changed the map. he wanted to get rid of the car. he changed the ecu back to the stock map. sold the car. didnt unmarry the ap from the vehicle. now he owns a g37. someone else owns the ms3 with the stock map. everything is stock. he has this access port with someone elses car married to it. its usless to me unless i send it to cobb to get reflashed. thats my story and im stickin to it.
