Rush in a Car Crash! (MSP Totaled)

Absolutely NO loan. I want to take the money I get from my MSP, turn around and buy a car with the cash, free and clear. I'd like to keep it under $7K if possible.

sounds like a 04-ish Honda Civic sedan/coupe is what you're looking for

or a Toyota Corolla of similar vintage if you want to bore yourself to death while driving, lol

Honda Civic. I don't think ANYTHING is a better deal. Used ones are cheap, run forever, and awesome on gas. I love the subby's, but don't expect more than 22mpg's for a WRX, or 27ish for the rs. Not to mention 5x the price of a civic. And in case you're wondering.....civics can be good in the snow. I drove mine from Florida, easily through a foot of snow in Canada, to Alaska. Then drove it up there for 4 yrs. Then from Alaska to Missouri. That thing was a "tank". My .02

Edit: In case it matters....I also had plenty of mods (I, H, E, etc) and still got 30mpgs.

How about having a B18C swap with all that stuff, and then some, and still getting 36 on the highway? And people wonder why I still have the car...

well you're no fun Hank :p

lol
cars of that age in general are due for some of the more costly maintenance work to keep it running in top shape, and i generally don't like the boxers for they are more difficult to work on than a standard FWD inline 4 :p

the example I posted tho isnt bad. $7k (can probably haggle that down) for a 00 w/ onky 70k miles....I'd take that!

Not worth it imo. Not when you can get a honda with 40-50k on the clock for less than that, and not have to worry about mechanical failures anytime soon.

I don't see the required fire extinguisher mod on either VW...

Neither of them come with a box of spare tail light bulbs either.

Another Jetta, this time it's an '00 Jetta VR6 5 Spd.

I'd have to pass on this one.....$4k for a veedub with 160k?

Cindy, I am going to go with some others and suggest a Civic.

1) Reliable (my sis-in-law has a '99 with IIRC 120k and no issues)
2) Decent mpg
3) Decent in the NE winters (after all if you are buying this car to be a future beater...a set of snow tires and wheels and you're set)
4) Easily modded, if you chose.
5) Insurance would be cheap.

what about a Rally art. Those cars a very nice. Again your going to pay more then the Civic. Anyways, just a thought.

I would go with a civic or integra. If your going to make it a beater then thats your best bet.
