Beware MAZDA North America monitors Car Domain!!!!

My warranty was voided today due to my car domain page by Mazda North American!!!!

Took my car in today and got a call from the service adviser that my vehicle was unwarrantable due to some website.

Spoke with dealership and low and behold...car domain came up. It was not the dealers.

Seems like when there are repairs estimating more than $200, the dealer is required to contact warranty support, then warranty support requests status on the vehicle configuration (mods) and does a quick and dirty search.

The dealer did not void my warranty... MAZDA NORTH AMERICAN did!!!!!

Oh and BTW, I'm getting rid of my MS3...another owner bite the dust...

uh could you possibly elaborate?

i have trouble believing that a company has no better things to do than cruise cardomain...

SRT-6's are a good buy right now ;) - and wayyyyy faster. Mid 12's is a CAI, and Pulley upgrade away- literally. If you guys are interested I'll post my times (& videos of my runs) this spring.

mmmm... i never heard anything like this. Most warranty repair work exceeds over 200$, factoring tech time and parts... this would mean they check up on every single car...

I dont think your warranty can just be voided for the sake of it... What exacly is wrong with your car?

edit: after seeing your mod list in your other thread, Im not surprised it got voided. They would have probably voided it on the spot if you any sort of engine issues with the mod list you have had they popped your hood.

How did they identify your car on cardomain?

Edit: Like, did you have your plates showing somewhere?

if i have learned anything from the 2 mazda forums that i go on its that a car company cannot void your warranty unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused the failure to occur, that is illegal.

"In 1975 a federal statute was enacted that stated:
'Under the Magnuson-Moss Act, a dealer must prove, not just vocalize, that aftermarket equipment
caused the need for repairs before it can deny warranty coverage. If the dealer cannot prove such a
claim — or it proffers a questionable explanation — it is your legal right to demand compliance with the
warranty. The Federal Trade Commission administers the Magnuson-Moss Act and monitors
compliance with warranty law.' ”

My car is stock... Parts are ready for ship... So. car went in with 0 mods.

woulnd't surprise me one bit...there are plenty of employers out there that check things like myspace and facebook before they hire applicants.

all the more reason to be hush hush....out of sight, out of mind

I don't buy into this, they cannot red flag your car just like that. So your telling me that if I install a cai and the radio stops working they wouldn't fix it? I can't believe this.

Theres probably something missing from all of this. He is protected under the M-M act. Either hes not telling the full truth, or that dealership is awaiting a hefty lawsuit... Which they wouldnt want, service advisors work off commission, so they dont want to turn away busines...

I would think that just listing a list of mods on the internet is not legal proof that you actually have these mods installed. As far as Mazda has to know, you simply listed these mods out of thin air in order to look cool on internet forums! You get my drift...?

And you have enough money to litigate this for how many years in court? Also, what does your owners manual say about modifications.....Mazda monitors every site in North America, they watch your videos on youtube as well. So when you list all of your mods, production numbers etc, they have all of the information they need about your car.

So Caveat Emptor, realize that Mazda is in the business of making money, not giving it away, so they are going to do what they have to do, to protect their interests, not ours. I am not saying they are right or wrong, but it is a business.
