ALL 2010 Mazda3 Stuff Goes Here

Me like, where do the sell the Atenza?

the Atenza is the 6 of Japan. That was the 2009 Mazdaspeed Atenza concept. But remember Mazdaspeed packages in Japan are different than over here, they are usually only body/wheel/suspension packages.

Okay. Some of you like the smiley face front, some of you don't. Why do you have to ridicule each other? Next -- I haven't figured out how to reply to a specific post, so this is kind of late but ---- it may be absurd in your eyes that someone would buy a car because it has dual exhaust (which I agree with in the case of fake dual exhaust, if that is the only reason for buying), but so what? Other features are well known to sell cars even though they have limited or no real street advantage: rear spoilers (which increase drag), side skirts and ground effects (which provide no value at street speeds and are mostly good for finding potholes, high parking barriers and extreme speed bumps), blacked out light lenses, hood buldges, alloy wheels, chrome trim, black-out trim, ambient interior lighting, etc. These are all routinely used to sell cars on appearance, not on function. So what? To each his own.

because its fun

as for the rest of your post. you are right. people do buy based on appearance over function more often than not

Supposedly the front end shape is very functional according to edmunds. It has a pretty sophisticated air induction system.
if by "very functional " you mean a big gaping hole that looks like a smiley face, then yes i agree!!

Other features are well known to sell cars even though they have limited or no real street advantage: rear spoilers (which increase drag) and are active at around highway speeds, side skirts and ground effects prevents lift at highway speeds for sure (which provide no value at street speeds and are mostly good for finding potholes, high parking barriers and extreme speed bumps), blacked out light lenses, hood buldges uhhhh...to fit the motor most of the time, alloy wheels lighter wheel reduces the motors rotating mass and are lighter, chrome trim i like shiney things, black-out trim, ambient interior lighting are you noctournal? its nice to see without having to turn on all your interior lights at times. ie. driving., etc. These are all routinely used to sell cars on appearance, not on function. So what? To each his own.

so a good portion of what you said are functional. if people choose to put parts on that are not aftermarket thats them, but THESE cars, stock, are made with great engineering behind them making a performance monster at an affordable price.

What do you guys think of the 2010 Mazda3 front/grille?

Just saw some pics on MazdaRevolution and it seemed horrific and ugly to me, especially considering how pretty the current models are.

Reason I'm posting this here is cause I want to trade in my 2005 Mazda3 S for a Mazdaspeed3 at some point, but with the fronts for these 2010 models I might have to rush and get the 2009 model before I'm finacially ready (uhm)

Do you guys think I should try to save up and get the 09 model since I theoretically still have a year (read somewhere, the 09 model is only going to be made for half a year, BS or no?). Or just wait till I pay off my current Mazda3 and then see about buying a used Mazdaspeed3? Or maybe there will be pretty aftermarket bumpers/grille's for the 2010+ models, and I should just plan on that?

I don't think anyone can give you objective advice on this. I don't like the grille, but that doesn't mean you won't grow to like it. I'm very polarized about cars' appearance. I either instantly like it, or I never like it.

The Mazdaspeed version may look very similar, so decide now if you can live with that.

I'm anxious to see what improvements appear on the next MS3. More hp is a definite. AWD? Sedan and hatch this time around? LSD? It's always a gamble, so look long and hard at the nose and decide if you may grow to like it.

agreed.

im not a fan of the reg. 3 but you never know what they do with the speed. it could be a whole other ball game. flared fenders? hood scoop? much to decide on. if you wait you could always buy a 07-09. you wont be stuck with one or the other.

There hasnt been any official announcement that there will even be a 2010 MS3 has there? its probable but it could just be the MPS version and not hit stateside for a while like the focus ST.

Keep on mind the 07-09 speed Front and rear bumpers are different than the regular 3 bumpers, so there's still hope. I'm personally excited, definitely considering a trade in if the car does become a reality. The new automobile magazine states the speed is inevitable but not yet announced

Didn't the current gen Speed3 have a hood scoop during development? Could have sworn Road and Track made a comment about this. Last thing Mazda needs is to have their car looking like a WRX...

But also this is a test mule and it could just be so they get some kind of cooling to the intercooler without fitting a different hood.

The 2011 style looks to have more of a permanent hood scoop, but who knows.
