Is UniChip Worth the Cash?

Whats up guys Im new to this forum and I wanted some opinions. I have a SMIC with hardpipes, Injen CAI, Greddy BOV, Vibrant TB exhaust, Turbosmart MBC running at about 8psi. I occasionally hit fuel cut especially since its colder out and i am interested in getting the Unichip piggyback because I was told this would solv ethis issue. Anyway I want the UniChip with the SMIC, CAI, Turbo back and Intake Mani map...is it worth it? Keep in mind I still have to get the intake mani but will the manifold produce noticeable results to pay the extra $ or instead should I go with the map tuned for a CAI and Turboback? Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

hello and welcome to the forums!
murfreesboro too, nice! i might get a job down there!

one thing to remember before you get one - is there a UniChip tuner in your area?, and it is going to cost some good amount to tune it too...

The Unichip will give you better Engine Management, but it might not cure the fuel cut. For that, you might need to invest in a JoeP Fuel Cut Defender.

If you do get a Unichip, contact JDM Sam and he can tune your Unichip for you with whatever mods you have.

thanks for the input. Alca what are the boost settings for your UniChip? Did you ever have a problem with fuel cut? Did you noticed horsepower gains with the UniChip?

honestly.. It is.. I have one, love it, just have outgrown it.. So that's the only reason y I am selling mine.. Just can't tune it yourself is the only downfall IMO.. I run 12+ psi boost daily.. But I am forged.. I def noticed a big power difference,

Well, with the Unichip, if you engage it, then the boost settings are at 10psi unless otherwise tuned. If you turn it off, then back to stock boost. That is only if you use the Unichip Boost Controller Selonoid. I didn't. I had an incabin MBC.

If you turn on the timing advanced map of the unichip, then you feel quite a bit of difference. I never got my car on a dyno, so I couldn't tell you just how much. Everyone of our cars is gonna have fuel cut unless you properly plan for it. Some say that if you relocate the MAF, it helps. Others say that with the JoeP FCD, it totally goes away.

Okay I need to renig on my last comment. . . I just replaced my MAF, that may have been the reason for my "fuel cut."
