Any photographers in here?

slight boost in contrast

there seems to be a gray haze on your pictures.
also got rid of the vignetting

I don't mind an alternative editing of my images. Indeed, I believe that is probably the single most effective way to communicate an idea or recommendation. And trust me, I've done it to plenty of images posted in the thread.

RE: Haze, take a gander at my flickr page (see the bottom of my sig, its a giant link) to see if the haze is consistent across many pictures or isolated to these two. Note that I have not always had a calibrated monitor and there is some variance between my recent work and older work.

it's just those 4 pictures of your brother that have it, all your others seem fine.

Italy is an incredible place to visit. There are so many angles you could take at that place...art, architecture, history, religion and of course photography. My (soon to be) ex-wife and I kind of just went without a specific agenda. The results were mixed in that there were really too many choices once we got there...

The other thing about traveling to Europe right now is the cost. Converting to the Euro is not favorable and the tax system makes everything cost more already. The result is a US$4.50 can of diet coke and US$10 side salads.

In my experience photographing a place like Italy is a vacation in itself. If you (or your SO) are not prepared to allow photographic opportunities to affect your agenda I would recommend against even taking a D-SLR. If, on the other hand, you do want to make photography the primary activity, then I would be create an agenda that allowed you to visit Rome for 4 or 5 days minimum, the Tuscan countryside for say 3 days, and Venice for 2 or 3 days. The coast south of Rome is beautiful but I couldn't say from experience how long it would take to photograph it.

^^^ Good advice man ! We are thinking about taking our "honeymoon" there ! The "wife" is really wanting to go there !!

You should pop that into photoshop and try to auto color it - see what happens?

I could, but it was taken a couple years back with a Fuji point & shoot. Might be able to boost the color a bit !
