How to get under Test Pipe?

I used jack stands on my car. I had to jack it a little higher once I was close to getting it out to pull out the old pipe because it was hitting the ground and I didn't have enough room to remove it. the hardest part was getting to the bolts where the pipe connects to the downpipe, there isn't much room to work with. also, getting the stock pipe off the hangers is a b****. basically you just push the rubber away from the hanger as you're pulling the pipe. you can use a flat head screwdriver to help loosen it up.

P.S.
does anyone remember which side of the original pipe had the longer bolts? was it the downpipe side? just wondering..

Finally finished! Tested and no leaks! So now i just took a shower and im about to butt dyno this thing! (drive2)(nana)

The long bolts go to the side hooked up to the rest of the exhaust, you use the same bolts for the downpipe side hope that helps.

As for the brace, I left it on, I thought it was supporting something and was scared the engine falling on me or something, just twisted the test pipe around it and got it off, the bad thing is i scraped some of the heat insulating material off, its not too bad so i dont think it would matter much.

congrats, wasn't that hard was it?

the factory bolts from the downpipe to the factory second cat are longer than the factory bolts from the other end of the second cat to the rest of the exhaust correct? I know it's a mouthful but I'm just trying to remember if I used the right bolts on my install. I used the bolts (much longer than original) provided with the SU test-pipe for the cat-back to test-pipe but I reused the "longer" original bolts for the downpipe to test-pipe. I'm not sure if I was supposed to use the original shorter bolts. lol..

idk about the SU TP but my instructions say reuse originals from DP-TP flange, Either ways as long as you tighten your bolts enough but not so much so that the springs are contracted all the way so that when the engine moves so can your exhaust you should be ok...BTW Car sounds weird when driving it now, and you can def. feel some vibs, but it also seems to pull a little bit stronger, not something astonishing but very nice, Im very pleased.

i used a power took on an air compressor and turned the psi up to like 120 and it took those screws off like nobody's business!

I also didn't need any gaskets for my testpipe and mine was a PG testpipe.

to jack my car up (since its low) I drive onto wood boards that are like .5" thick or close, then I can get a jack under there and lift it up from either corner or the center cross member where your motormount bolts up then put that s*** on jackstands and do work son! I cant use any ramps since the coilovers went on.......

you want nice sounding exhaust? cut out the two resonators before the muffler and have them replaced with str8 pipes.

i had mine done like two weeks ago, still have the second cat in and it sounds great.

sounds like a subie mixed with a bit of evo. cant wait to hear it get throatier and a bit bassier once i get the SU race pipe.

i also switched my MSCAI to sri mode and i love the way the car runs all around compared to CAI. everything is more crisp. BOV is louder, turbo spool is louder and doesnt get over powered by the sucking sound of the intake anymore. CAI just seems to feel a bit sloppier than SRI

but the exhaust note changed as well. the sound got beefier, got more tone and a tad louder but isnt over bearing one bit.

IDK, I've read that test pipe is only a little bit louder than stock...def. not my case, and I do alot of highway driving so its driving me a little mad, i guess ill just have to pump up the music lol, I cant imagine how much louder it would be with straight pipes instead of resonators

if its loud with just the testpipe you may want to check for a leak.

the volume shouldnt really get louder. just bassier with the testpipe

yeah my car is definitely louder. there is more drone when you let off the gas, but it sounds really good on WOT. I'm going to check for a leak when I do an oil change.
