Anyone interested in going? I got one of those tickets and my buddy dropped out this morning- couldn't get off work. Figured I'd extend the offer.

PM me if interested.

It was really an awesome experience. I just got home from work and the past 36 hours have just been a huge blur. I got up at 5 for work yesterday, worked till 4:30... Got a co-worker with a conviniently place apartment to take the extra ticket, so I parked down at her place, hopped on the el.. stood in line, went through security, stood in line, went through security, stood in line, went through security, stood in a crowd.. and I don't think there was any more of an amazing place to be. Left after Obama's speech and didn't make it back to Lake Villa till quarter to 3. I ended up getting a shower and watching the news until my alarm went off to head back down to work. I don't regret it at all.

I'm not a hardcore obama guy or anything, but I do follow politics fairly actively. This is really the first time in my life that I've been around for something so significant and it was really cool to be able to say I was there.

For those interested, I attached some pictures I took. There's some more here: http://good-times.webshots.com/album/568494877ehLjWD (picture 0036 in there was standing in the intersection of Michigan and Balbo and there were just.. people... everywhere... I've never seen so many people)

Definitely. Great event to be sure.

Try walking away from Grant Park and the lakeshore after the fireworks on the 4th. It's probably more like 300k to 400k person units running amok.

Yep, NObama's time for change has begun. Bringing in Clintons old posse. I guess the only change he meant was color.

I really wish that when it comes to politics people would offer only inteligent arguments and not resort to simple name calling. It's great that so many people, young old, black, white, purple whatever are interested in this now, but offering simple insults only highlights how incredibly ignorant you actually are.

Thats just my .02.

Another person that can't handle the truth. So sad and pathetic all at the same time.

what truth? so rahm, a previous clinton adviser was appointed. key word, advisor, he does not make executive decisions.

but also, emmanuel brings some presidential experience to the table.

also, its been 3 days since the guy won election and already you're saying that his message of change was bulls***. i mean, whatever.

Funny that even his own people couldn't come up with anything but "He's bringing the country together" when asked "What exactly is he going to change?". Funny that if I attended something with a white pastor such as his it would have been branded a KKK rally. Funny that one of George Soros' top people was appointed to head one of the first committees he started. Funny that there isn't a hospital in Hawaii that lists his mother as a patient at the time he was born. Funny that with all this stuff and more that came out, the only thing he could come up with was "He's just like Bush". Funny, yeah, the dems are laughing at all of you. Now they really know how you can be played.

This is entertaining for sure. Not to argue the points, but I'll just offer a few more pennies of thought:

This has been a gripe of mine for the past 6 or so months as I get gobs of "Obama's a Muslim-Terrorist-Communist-was-never-born-and-probably-doesn't-exist-and-what-you-see-is-just-a-figment-of-everyone's-imagination-because-Hawaii-was-barely-even-a-state-in-1961-not-to-mention-it-gained -statehood-in-1959-and-OMG-he-loves-Kenya-more-than-USA-Go Philly's-McCain-Maverick-Palin-Hockey hockey hockey - Country First!!" emails from my right-leaning friends: It seems like everyone and their mother with access to the internet and their homepage set to News Corp. have turned into some variant of Nancy Drew/The Hardy Boys and days upon days of Googling and surfing have resulted in nothing but these vacant, super-sleuth, ground-shaking results.

So as far as proliferating these mind bending statements about what is the truth, IT'S NOT YOUR JOB to determine that. No, really. It's not mine either and it's probably not anyone else's on the forums.

Both the Dem/Rep National Committees actually PAY people to validate information. I've yet to understand how someone (this goes to the originators of all rumours, both Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin) has any audacity of hope* to actually 'scoop' these extremely resourceful organizations (not to even mention deep pocketed news orgs). It's conspiracy theorists run amok (I hear the UFO-Kennedy-9/11 Club is accepting new members)

That said, if by some insanely remote chance, the RNC or the DNC and/or anyone with much higher authority than you nor anyone else on this forum weren't able to validate Obama's birth-cert. and just about every other rumour/fact, then shame on them for allowing it to pass, and shame on everyone for voting thinking it's valid.

Further: Get involved.

I'm tired of people complaining about how one thing didn't turn out the way they or their mother planned or hoped or wanted it to and do nothing.

Did you volunteer for the McCain campaign? Did you pick up the phone and call potential, unregistered voters? Did you call fellow Republicans? What about potential Democrats that have shown the tendency not to vote for the party line the last time (I would have voted for McCain in 2000 had he not been steamrolled by the Bush-Cheney machine)? Did you go door-to-door? Did you talk to your neighbor about them getting involved? Did you go to any regional Republican committee meetings? Did you join any coalitions? Do you even know who your alderman/councilman is? What about your state senator/representative? What are the issues you're interested? Ever run for office yourself? Why not? Did you volunteer to be a voting judge? What about in 2012? What about in your next mayoral race - going to get involved then as your local politicians have a lot more to do with your cost/quality of living than the person living at 1600 Pennsylvania?...etc, etc, etc

Or did you just want to complain and come to the internet because a topic piqued interest and well...just because?

Shut down the computer, and get some fresh air. The change* will do you good.

* these puns brought to you by Obama '08.........and Nutella

Your another one. "Not to argue the points", funny but it kinda sounded like you did. Same as all the NObamites.

So, in lieu of an actual retort (i.e. more bickering), you resort to bad grammar? It's only an argument if the other party can keep up; next time, I'll try to step it up beyond 5th grade name calling.
