HID Temp pics please!!

Its my first car with HIDs and at first it was hard to get used to because of that blackout effect it has on the outside of the light projection. So I am going to for all form (light output) that I can get.

Aftermarket 4500k better than the stock ones or would I be wasting the money?

it will cost more, but, if you want the best light output, your best bet is to replace the stock projectors and upgrade to something better.

I'll be running Acura TL's soon

what you could also do is just adjust the lowbeams. i found that mine (and there would be several others that agree with this) were just a little lower than i wanted them to be, and that i thought they should have been. there's a how-to on lowbeam adjustments but it's really simple:

when it's low light/dark outside face your car against a flat surface (like a garage door) approx 10 ft away or so. with the headlight setting on 0 (beam at it's highest level) tape off the top of the beams (they should be distinctly different from left to right beam)
move the thumb wheel to the "1" setting (beam lower), then utilizing the white plastic adjustment screw, bring the beam levels back up to the tape marks.

after doing this your "1" setting is now where you're original "0" setting was, and the new "0" is now higher than it used to be.

i find this helps me a little more on backroads, it brings the beam up high enough to point into the woods a little farther forward than it used to. cuz in all honesty the high beams really just fill in the dark spot directly in front of your car, and not really around the road

Okay, so now after reading all this....I think I'm even more confused then before. Especially if you guys are stating that the HID stock projectors are different then halogen stock projectors.

Another thing is that all the different brands yield different color results. Most likely this has to do with some being cheap Chinese products, and others being Japanese and German products. The kit I'm looking to purchase is the XTREME HID kit from xenon experts which is pricier then most generic kits, but seems to use good quality products:

- Patented Digital Ballast Technology for precise colour illumination
- Japanese quality and craftsmanship
- CE, UL, and E4 certified OEM Grade Xenon HID Components
- Epoxy sealed Waterproof and Shockproof HID Xenon Ballasts
- Laser aligned HID Xenon Bulbs to ensure optically correct beam patterns
- Unique dual relay harness design
- Full replacement warranty

BALLAST SPECIFICATIONS:

- Xtreme HID ballasts are designed with a patented multi stage safety feedback (M.S.S.F.) system allowing them to interact with the bulbs to determine optimal light output.

- Xtreme HID ballasts use a patented self intelligent light output configuration (S.I.L.C) to ensure brightness stability and precise illumination colour.

- The Xtreme HID ballasts are designed for both 12V and 24V applications.

- Equipped with advanced polarity protection system

Now that being said, I can't find 4500k anywhere? OEM is 4300k which is found on every website. And if I were to just pick from the images below, I would go with the 4300k....but the problem is 4300 looks so different on every car I've seen??? Does anyone on here have this exact kit from http://www.xenonexpert.com/

This is the picture of their 4300k

This is their 5000k

And finally 6500k

the link you sent is the Apexcone DDM kit.

That is the kit installed on my car, protege 5 posted above, and that is the 4300K(4500K-whichever) bulbs

Sweet, I think I'll stick with the 4300k then as well. My kit might be slightly different as I'm not going with the DDM, but that's mostly because I want the higher end one with the direct connect harness and relays.

I'll post some pics once I get them installed, thanks! (drinks)

I hate those color charts when its the same damn picture and the colors were adjusted.

apexcone has 10000k hid but its not purple....i nee to get purple for my fogs any one know good ones??

12 should be purple and if you go higher you'll get pink.

i was driving next to a saleen mustang last night and the lights were a deep purple, first time ive ever seen that lol. usually its just a hint of blue/purple

^Thats an easy way to get pulled over. haha

There is a silvia around here with pure pink lights. They look like black lights. haha.

Technically speaking Mazda requires removing the front bumper for headlight replacement (at least for the HIDs) and states for you to bring the car to them to change the lights.

dandydaniel all you need to do is get a new set of D2S lamps in the color temp. of your choice and swap out the ones in your headlights now. It's possible to do without removing the bumper/headlights, but can be tight if you have very large hands.

haaaaa. very large hands. hm. I can live with the stock HID's if I have to drop the bumper and remove the headlight assembly just to change out a damn bulb. but since you say it's possible to accomplish without the removal and dropping of the bumper and headlight, where is the best place to get me a pair of d2s bulbs?

I know Xenon Experts where I just ordered my kit from also sells just the bulbs. As for the bumper removal, from what I've heard...it's easier to install lights/bulbs on the MS3 as there is apparently more room to work with. I have an MS3, so I'm not sure how tight the fit is on a standard 3.

On a side note, I've seen almost every instruction manual for almost ANY part on this car start off by saying remove front bumper. It said the same thing for my Injen intake install, which was absolutely a joke. I didn't touch the front bumper and installed the whole thing easy as can be. I wouldn't be surprised if the manual states "Remove Front Bumper" to replace the rear brake lights! :p

What's to be confused about? Both cars have projector low beams, but they use different ones in the HID equipped cars. Partially this is because D2S lamps are longer than H7 lamps, and partially it's to better cope with the great amount of light output. That's why the HID projectors lack the hotspots of the halogen projectors.

I call shenanigans. I want to see a pic of HID oem projectors next to the halogen version.

I am willing to be they have the same exact part number.

which part are you talking about...there has to be a difference because the gt has low beam level settings and the sport doesn't, so the housing can't be the same

What color do I need for my fogs to match my HID projectors in my fog? I bought 55W 4500K from Apexone and they are more yellow than stock. I'm wondering if the 55W lowered the color at all. Since some look like a lower temp at 55W because of their brightness.

Higher watts means they will loose more color. go with a 5000k or 6000k if you still want to go 55w

ummm I have very little know how in this subject...I have the GT model,so stock 4300 hids..anyways whats the best replacement bulb I can get to have the brightest usable light over my stockers?? I dont care about colors...not looking to be rainbow starbrite. Thanks
