09 Mazdaspeed3 & 09 Cobalt SS

Just a video of a show I subscribe on youtube, this guy Matt takes the two out on the track. Some jacked up editing in the video, but other than that, I like the speed3 better.

the cobalt performs, but its still a cobalt. I would not buy the base cobalt, so why would I buy the faster model...when its still the same car/interior aside from the drivetrain. I would however buy a standard mazda 3, because its still a great car.

LOL... I think these comparos are funny. The sad part is with the SS, Bushing and MM all of the bad things with the speed are gone and would make the car far more appreciable in these situations.

I drove the two back to back before I bought my MS3. If I drove like I was racing everywhere I went, I probably would've bought the Cobalt. But the 3 is so much nicer to live with as a daily driver - I like the broader torque for the cut and thrust of daily driving and the ergonomics are way, way superior.

it is probably just mis-information. Unless they had a speed3 with the CAI and exhaust, which I think would bring it around 280hp, but most likely just wrong info.

Than again, doesn't australia have a higher model of the speed3 that is around 300hp? Just has a different tune on the computer or something?

if i knew then what i know now i would not have bought this car. its a great car with great potential, but the tunabilty of it is ...well there pretty much isnt any. thet so called tuners out there are a waste of $$ for this car.
i wish i waited for the 2010 eco-boost mustang !

That's the reason why I am posting on this forum now yes. But when we are reduced to dash stroking instead of performance aren't we a little gay?

I thought you were gonna say if I knew the engine falls out of these cars I owuldn't have gotten it. As far as mods I have always maintaned that the AP is crap but there are other routes to go for modding. I saw a guy put on a big turbo without any supporting mods and get 333whp so that's the route I would take.

glad im not 18, watching his program, and suggestable. is he supposed to be the voice of reason for all of the internet like fast and furious was to movie-goers? how is he gonna say something like "your first car should be a fwd....because if you go from an awd to a rwd or fwd you'll be thrown off"? if you start at any of those 3 and move on to the other you'll be thrown off if all you're doing is taking it right to the track.

p.s. i might have serously considered the cobalt if i didn't need 4 doors due to my toddler son. but then again it wouldn't have been the turbo version so i really woulda gotten a crappier car
