I am going to paint the grill area on my speed 3 this weekend and am looking for oppinions on what looks better on silver.

I would paint the grill/bar area black and leave the mazda emblem silver or paint the grill and emblem both black. What do you guys thing would look better of these:

I dont plan to cut the bumper and put the auto exe emblemless grill. So i will be painting the stock one. Not sure if leaving the emblem silver would be good to match the paint or black it all out

will look awkward imo.

which one would look awkward?

If you look in the photo/video thread Renzokuken has his red "roxy" and the grill and emblem are painted all black, looks pretty nice. Ive seen it on 3-4 others out there. I kind of like opening up the grill a little by painting it black.

What you did in the first 2 pics (painting grill black- keeping emblem chrome) actually looks better than stock. That's very rare for me to say. I think most visual "mods" people do detract from the cars looks IMHO.

I'd say just the grill

I'm starting to go that way, painting the grill/bar only and leave the chrome emblem. it actually matches the paint decently in the light/daytime.

ever since i saw a picture of this guys car i wanted to make it all black:

Paint the bar and see how it looks. Then, if you think it would look better to paint the emblem too, proceed and paint the emblem.

I just did an awful photochop of my car to see how that would look, I may do that. :D Thanks for the idea!

post your photochop in here to show it. I did mine in ms paint so its all jagged and ghetto :)

thats exactly what my best friend was saying, paint rhe bar then see how i like it, then keep painting the emblem. Problem is I don't want to put it back on the car and then have to take the bumper off to get the emblem off. Doesn't the bumper have to come off to get the emblem off (clips on back?)

rofl. I just redid it, and it looks worse then the first go around. Of course, in real life I would use trim paint to match the black parts on the car, but **** it it's just to get an idea!

Here ya go! :)

you know from looking at it it looks really good. I really like the all black of the car i posted earlier, but since the emblem looks good silver on a black grill/bar I'll probably just paint the bar and leave the emblem.

anyone have an idea if the emblem comes off without havign to take the bumper off? My bumper will be off anyways as I am doing the angel/demon eyes on the headlights this sunday. it will be easier to paint the bumper since it will already be off the car with less to worry about taping off for overspray

Looks a bit like a protege!!

If only you could take it all out and fill in the little bubble the emblem leaves on the bottom. I think open mouth is the way to go. I'll probably get the autoexe at some point, just not looking forward to cutting apart my bumper cover
