n/a mods on this engine typically put power in the top end, so its not unusual. if you are looking for more low end, this manifold is not going to be the solution.
exactly right...especially given the lack of decent NA tuner parts available for the car...
if you want low end (or more to the point, a more USABLE power band) you are better off designing and building your own stuff...
For example, if you were to make your own intake manifold, with the correctly tuned intake runners, right matched plenum volume, and a tune length/diameter intake pipe, you can create plenty of usable power NA. In fact, you can actually dial the runner length in according to exactly where you want the power to hit. The formulas are quite easy to work with, the problem is fabricating a part! The 626 manifold is good because its there to be had, and it does give some gains (which has been proven time and time again). A couple of hours and you've changed it over....instead of the weeks of measuring, fabricating, test fitting, tuning, adjusting and hair pulling that will go on with building your own stuff.
Having said all that, going to a management system can really help fill up some of the low end loss you experience when working the motor NA - by feeding the motor more aggressive timing, and dialing the fuel in, you can at least go SOME WAY towards making up for what you will lose with a mod like this...
