New Iphone Program...Rev...

Most iphone users try to be as said before trendy. Hey it's expnesive paris hilton has one I need one too. I dont follow the crowd, I do/buy what's best for me.

My blackberry took a crap after a year. I do a lot of shop work and any cell phone with buttons gets dirt in the crevices..with the Iphone I just have the static cover on it and wipe it clean...Tada! Good as new...

I got it because its functional.. I can text and listen to my ipod at the same time at work...I can get internet anytime anywhere...I can get e-mail from work...and I saw the potential of the apps as they started to come out...

Think about when cell phones first came out..

..we go from that to essentially a touchscreen computer? Thats amazing...my iphone still amazes me every day as i said...I doubt i will be amazed by anything on the google phone mainly because I doubt it will have an accelerometer...bet i won't be able to play guitar on the andriod??

And honestly I hate the fact that to play games you gotta move ur phone around.

.

not a Wii fan i am betting

i could care less about games on my phone personally, i do care however that i am on my third replacement phone and will be needing a fourth. love the phone but its as durable as tissue paper under a pair of scissors.

With my IPhone I can VPN to work and use Remote Desktop and get to my work machine or servers and fix issues while at a ballgame or something.

IPhone FTMFW! Only thing I dislike about it is the battery life is horrible.

don't get me wrong, i love the phone. alot. but i've been very cautious with it and i've been through several for stupid bug and hardware issues. i'd go get an AT&T Tilt but i hate windows mobile. and sorry but that new Google phone looks about ten years out of date.

really? I can understand software problems but hardware wise its one of the toughest phones out there...the 1G model anyway. I have seen a lot of bricked phones from jailbreaking or running jailbroken apps in conjunction with the app store, but thats user-fault. I grabbed the REV app the day it came out though and can't wait for the wifi adapter....will be so sweet to have a wireless boost gauge on my phone haha

google phone is not out yet but......I think iphone is pretty cool I just refuse to pay $600 (price without contract) for a 3G phone. And honestly I hate the fact that to play games you gotta move ur phone around.

And I simply dont like mac for stupid designs like MAC book air, and all of their expensive s***.

have you looked at unlocked prices for comparable phones? The iPhone really isn't expensive, its just on par. Sounds like you have never used a mac. I don't have one but I have used them and the OS is fantastic.

I've used a mac. I used one for 4 years in school and the OS annoyed the heck outta me. Plus the darned things are so overpriced. My PC is super stable and does everything I ask of it for a fraction of the cost.

agreed there. I like the GUI part, has the "shiny" effect. But I am onboard with people running hackintosh setups because hardware to hardware wise, apple is always more expensive, minus the iphone. The other thing that apple pc's have going for them though is that they hold their value unlike any other computer which is awesome for reselling them.

mine was 199 with contract...since thats how most people buy phones. but since your comparing, a Nokia n95 or N95 can go for over 700 on ebay as they are unlocked. These are comparable phones. Even the older, less comparable phone such as the Blackberry Curve is 350-400 on ebay. And being a linux person, its surprising you don't care for the OSX OS, since its unix-based...but requires no command line work to fix bad drivers or random software problems associated with linux.

are you comparing phones, typical user computers, or servers? I have found very few pieces of hardware to have any issues whatsoever with the Linux kernel. Have you tried a desktop Linux distro recently? The handful of phones that run on open software that are coming out within the next few years will be just as good and better than any iphone that apple will come up with. Keep an eye on OpenMoko, Symbian, and the google phone. The open software model will allow a phone to be produced like the iphone, but you will be able to pay 199 with no contract locking you into a certain cell company. Companies will not need to put as many resources into developing because there will be a community helping out with it. Oh, and you will be able to use the phone anywhere in the world, unlike many verizon and sprint phones.

I'm learning linux cuz I might need it down the road and yes sometimes the drivers are pain in the ass but usually only with laptops....(some wireless cards have issues), I'm not really hating the SOFTWARE, I just think for the money you can get a better computer.

Mac's os is pretty good, I didnt use it for months but I tried it here and there and it seems very stable.
