Light modification!

Hi! So I've been happy with my car and am only now starting to toy with the idea of changing a few things on it, since I'm not too familiar with stuff this domain.

I've seen recent posts about lights and HIDs and high-beams but nothing concrete, so maybe I could get some help with the idea I have.
Basically, what I want to do,

1. Set my high-beams as my low-beams.
This will set me apart from other protege5's, and they'll be on all the time cause of DRL here in canada.

2. Get HIDs for my "highs" which will be in my low-beams, cause of the switch in #1.

What would this imply?
Is it the same current and power and everything for both highs and lows? Is it only a bulb difference?
Where could I get a how-to as to switching the lights?
And if I do switch them, what is implied for my HIDs, considering that they'll be connected on my high-beam wiring if I make the switch?

Has anyone else done this, or something similar? Any pros and cons? I'd really like to know what you guys think, thanks!

I guess anything is possible with some modification. I am sure you would have some re-wiring involved with switching hi's to lo's and vice versa.

Don't get HID's for your hi-beams! The HID's take some time to 'fire up' which would basically render them useless if you must keep turning them on/off due to oncoming traffic.

My suggestion is to leave them the way they are and buy the HID's for your lo-beams.

Is that something you want? I'm in canada and there is a great how-to to disable your low beams and use your fogs for drl's. It also tells you how to put them on a switch so you can convert everything back to stock at the flick of a switch which is handy in my case as in NS we have an annual MVI and in order for the car to pass it needs the factory DRL set up.

Now sure if the hibeam housing would have the same lighting distribution as the low beam housing though...

Let me get this straight....
You want your hi-beams on all the time?? This'll piss-off a lot of drivers. Not a good idea. The light will blind on-coming traffic and will also annoy whoever is driving in front of you via their rear-view mirror. Also, not positive if it's actual LAW or not, but way back in driving school, I was told that you aren't supposed to driving with hi-beams within a certain distance of other vehicles...

No what he is looking to do is is move his low beams to where his hi beams are and vise versa in the headlight assembly.

that's what I thought AT FIRST, but he wrote "they'll be on all the time cause of DRL here in canada." Normally low-beams are on all the time. Also, someone else mentioned re-wiring... So I believe he wants to leave hi-beams on all the time. I could be wrong...

yeah what I meant by "all the time cause of DRL" is basically that:

I'm gonna have low-beam light coming out of my high-beam housings,
and I wouldve wanted to have my HID lights coming out of my low-beam housings, but to control them with my high-beam switch.

From what I understood though, it wouldnt be a good idea cause of the time that HIDs take to warm up.

As for this, yeah i think i want them on all the time cause it's the law and I wouldn't wanna get stopped by the cops for no lights in daytime.
