'07. Yup it does. It was in the shop 1.5 wks ago too so either it just happened and happened fast or they lied when they said they checked my brakes and all was fine!
Yeah the dealers said mine were good too but when I come to a slow stop I can kind of feel the car wobble like if the rotors are warped of something and it does squeek sometimes
Hey Z did you get the Mazda checklist with the report on brake pad wear? Boy that is not good and glad you caught it before something really bad happened. Did anyone but the dealership touch the brakes or wheels? Should be warranty if not. Good luck. Check lug nuts just for fun
if the wheels aren't torqued properly you will probably have runout in your disks. say if one nut was tighter than the others (significantly tighter) this is going to pull that part of the disk out more thus creating a vibration feeling. yea everything is metal and all but it can still bend somewhat, even if it's a few thousanths of an inch you'll be able to feel it.
and yea, those brakes look horrible, i'd go back to the dealer on that one
update. took it to sentry west in shrewsbury, ma and I'm glad I did once again. (sorry this update is a little scatter brain thought process)
The rotor for the most part was really smooth. Which confused me because the portion i checked had a groove. After they showed me the brake pad and it had failed. It actually cracked in the center and then was dragging on the rotor in the center. They told me it could be due to excessive heat possibly and the pad cracked under the heat and suggested things like rotor going to fast otherwise excessive speed or something may got caught there and heated up the pad. I found it a little hard to believe as it was a rear pad and which has a small percentage of the braking force and only one of the rear pads were affected. For all we know the pad installed incorrectly and it was dragging which caused a thermal crack. Or something stuck and then it cracked. Nonetheless the pad clearly had failed.
For the good part. They said normally the pad and such are only covered under 12,000 mile warranty as its a wear item; I'm well past but they said they would fix it free of charge and they did no cost to me. Part of me thinks they were a little worried I'd complain that they didn't catch it the other three times my car was in this month or that it was installed wrong. Whatever the reason the pad definitely failed, installed wrong? Manf defect? Foreign object? Mech failure? who knows.... But Sentry did me right and I'm very pleased with them once again.
i am glad that they decided to take care of you. it really could be any number of things. hell you could have left your handbrake on and killed it that way! =d regardless, i'm sure you will be ok now, so no worries!

Problems worth noting ... I have this gremlin suspension noise. Traveling over expansion joints for example I get a "CLINK" sound. Same place worked on it and mentioned it may come back and that they elevated the issue and reported it as a quality problem to mazda. Upper strut mount bushing (off the top of my head) was replaced however with the same designed part.
I'll keep an eye on this one. its documented so if it occurs again there's a bigger problem and the pad was only the symptom.

YES that is exactly what happens... can you elaborate though because, maybe I'm just naive, I'm not familiar with what you're referring to. You know what TSB it is?

There is a gasket (commonly refered to as a donut gasket) that is in the flexible socket joint between the downpipe and the midpipe. Every time you hit a bump, both the engine and exhaust move and the difference in movement is absorbed at this joint.
Not sure what the TSB number is, but if you shake your engine hard by hand, you can recreate the noise.
