How much longer do they plan on making the MS3?

Mazda Speed3
I have an 2007 speed3 and was under the impression that this was only going to be made for two years but I believe they are now making 09's (correct me if i'm wrong) Are they still keeping the 5000 a year?

One reason I bought this car was I like having a car that not everyone and there mom owns.

I was just curious how much longer they will continue to make this car?

I never understood this mentality. More of them on the road = larger aftermarket + more wrecked carcasses in junkyards to vulture for parts. The fact that the MS3 is the first Mazdaspeed vehicle to make it past two MY looks promising for more quality performance-oriented vehicles from Mazda in the future. Not everyone wants a crossover or mid-sized sedan that puts them to sleep.

The new redesigned 3 will be launched in Jan/Feb 2010 which means the existing 3 will only be around for a half model year in 09. So the MS3 will only be in production for 2.5 years.

The reality of having a rare, exclusive vehicle for $24k is a myth.... need to spend six figures for that!

This is all relative.

i'm not sure that any of us are looking for a 24K rare car (I know I'm not). However unlike the colbalt SS, Civic SI, neon SRT, tiburon, 350Z and hell even the mini are all over the place. I still enjoy getting gas in my car and people telling me how nice my car is and asking what it is.

I've only seen 3 other speeds in my area (dayton, OH) I've seen more EVO 8's in this area than the Speed3.

A 2.5 year production run would be pretty good.

Mazda sold over 76,000 Mazda3's in the United States in 2004 and you're worried about being unique? Do you think the average person can tell the difference between a Mazda3 and a MS3?

Some of you people need to quit crying. Just be glad you have one. I know I am. So what if they are making 09's, like Kain said, there will be more aftermarket and easy pickins at the local pick'n'pull.

i am not sure that they are limiting production to 5k a year. i think that there are probably that many in houston (exaggeration, but there are a whole lot.)

Whilst driving around on my new tires/wheels yesterday, I stopped by the dealership. Found this, looks like it was just delivered:

new model MS3 will be AWD.... read it in a car and driver... issue number 240; dated April 1, 2009...

car and driver also said that they would be making the rx7 again in 2009. they say a lot. i would get in tight with the GM at a dealership and find out for sure what the allocation is going to be. the GM's usually know what is going on with the new models more than a car magazine does. i don't trust anything that car and driver has to say.
