since you seem to have plenty of talent when it comes to taking photos....what time during the day is the best time to take pics?
3-4 minutes after sunrise, 3-4 minutes before sunset.

otherwise, anytime when the light is not too harsh.

try to shoot in the "golden light hour"
like prodigy stated your window of oppritunity is very small. If you want to go for the true "golden light", your window maybe as small as 60secs on certain days of the month.
But most of the time you shoot with what your given, due to time constraints ect, and try to make the most of it(I.E. sometimes you just get lucky). Like below, I would have loved to shoot during the ideal time but due to scheduling conflicts etc it was now or never, also I wish the road was wider so I could get some side shots but this road is part of the old rt66 hwy so it was very narrow for a 2 lane highway.

Also the ass pick, evilmonkeyMSP, you inspire me...(stash)

That's a sweet shot!

I like the current models of Mazda, but the "future" ones that are revealed at car shows... some of them look way out there.

Yeah, I guess they just need time to grow on us, kind of the last gen EVO looks, when it was just launched it got the "weird looking" review everywhere, but today the aesthetics reviews are more favorable

+1 on the evo X!

I kept seeing pictures of it and thinking 'omg its hideous, somone go bomb the mitsubishi headquarters NOW!'

then I saw it in person and immediately my thoughts changed from that to absolute shock and awe at how good it looks haha

Polarized lens helps with direct sunlight.

I've never been a big fan on polarized filters. But like many other arguments, evo vs sti, ms6 vs ms3, glock vs 1911, etc there is a big for vs against.

On that note, I do use UV filters on occasion, such as in the rain(see the night/fog/rain pic), saltwater spray, or any other harsh environmental cases, or in a place that a camera/lense could get scratch etc. For a polarizing lense, I have one 58mm, if I need to eliminate glare I will use it, but for me 99% it is not needed.
If I scratch the filter, I can simply remove it and keep shooting. I feel much more comfortable cleaning dirt off of an $50 filter than I do from a very expensive lens.
I use high quality filters like B+W with their "rain x" like coating, also heliopan has a similar coating. I personally do NOT consider a low end/low cost filter to be acceptable. Many of these exist, do NOT buy them.
