Hello everyone, I bought this Mazda 6 2007 for my wife in November 2007 , the car has 6,000miles on it, to tell you the truth I haven't wash the car in 1 Month, it have been raining and keeps the car kinda clean :D

Well my wife and I traded cars 2 days ago , she would be using my CX-7 and I will be using the Mazda 6, this weekend I decided to clean both cars, and because is love bug season here in FL, I keep those suckers out of the bumper as soon I see some splatter on it.

I was cleaning the front bumber and I found a spider web type crack on the paint in front of the passenger headlight. I know this is not bug acids related, now my question is Would Mazda warranty cover this?
what should I do? I want a new bumper not a re-paint job on it. Last time I washed the car I didn't notice this.

Here are some pics.

Any help would be apreciated

First this seems like the clear is cracking,so its a paint deffect, then it should be garanteed, just bring it back to the dealer, they ll fix this out, make sure there is no other places on the car like that....

Most likely cause of spiderwebing like that would be impact damage. Something was either hit (rock/another car) at low speeds. The bumper flexed and reverted to its original form and the paint stressed beyond its flex limit causing cracks. Doubt highly that it will be covered under warranty...

Bumper paints have different quemicals on it to allow bending a little, to have this cracks on the paint you really need a hard impact. This car is only 6 months old. When I bought the car the front bumper had a plastic cover for protection and it endend around the headlight , I remenber seen a lot of dirt in that area, but they cleaned the car and it looked perfect, This car was on the dealer months before I bought it all that dirt in there with the sun will damage the finish, wich I think it did.

The cracks starts close to the center of the bumper and it fades towards the passenger side. If you touch the paint you can feel a rough finish 8" long.

That doesn't look like impact damage to me. Just take it to the dealer and see what they say. Only forget about a new bumper cover. There is nothing wrong with yours, its a paint issue.

I will try to get a new bumper, sometimes when is warranty they exchange the bumbers rear or back with ones already painted from factory that they did that on a old Dogde Neon I had. Sometimes they re-paint them but I'm gonna make sure is a good company who paint the bumper because I know some of them, use MAACO and I prefer take my chances using a touch up paint on that area. Last time I painted a car at MAACO the paint was worse than that spiderweb in only 8 months. I have to many issues with this car this past month.

Engine stalls, they sold me the car NEW but without any tool to take the tire off, on spare tire and scratched jack, rear light was burn, left front tire was flat the day I bought it, and now this. Plus the motor mount feels broken when I start the engine. Only 6000miles on it :(

That chemical you refer to is a Flex agent which is added to the paint during painting....and once cured..is no longer Flexible.

Its used to allow additional time to install flexible body parts without damaging the paint.

SO by now..that bumpers paint has no flex left to it.

And to my eyes....that does not look like impact damage..no point of impact and its cracked like a chemical reaction..not like spiderwebbing.
The dealer may cover it..but highly unlikely without fighting for it.
They will blame it on something you have used on the car.

It could have been some chemical on the road that accumulated in roadside water. But it also could have been anything else. It is pretty noticeable though.

That's a reason i try to always keep my baby clear of water pools on the side of the streets.
