i'm going to tell you the easiest way man...
go to auto zone and buy:
duplicolor adhesive promotor
duplicolor semi-gloss black (if you want a flat/satin look)
take a scotchbrite pad and scuff them up well, then wash them with soap and water. follow the directions on the back of the can. use about 2 light coats of promoter and then about 3 light coats of paint. if you want it to look really good, you can buy a tack cloth from auto zone also and gently wipe off debris between coats. stick the emblems back on with the original adhesive.
my emblems have been painted for about 8k miles and have no chips, scratches, fading of any kind.
let me know if you have anymore questions. good luck!
just wondering. how do you sand all the nooks and crannys between the letters and all that crap?

This seems like a kick-ass, easy mod. I saw the black out emblems on some vendor website. They were selling them for a ridicuolous amount, though. I wonder if they were selling actual blacked out emblems, or just something to do it to the ones already on the car.
Black painted emblems FTW!
yup just did mine ill post pics toniight/tmm i already got a lot of compliments from friends...blacked out on silver = super sexy
oh and use strong floss or fishing line to work the first part of the adhesive
here ya go...blurry but theyll do haha
Looks great! Only difference is I left the 3 offWhat did you use to stick them back on? Are they flush?
i used 3m tape but not the 1/2" its like 7/8" or somethin...it does stick out a bit but id rather use that cuz i also tried that 3m emblem 'glue'/adhesive and it left somekind of...i dunno how to explain...'film', where at a certain angle you can see where it was applied...i used it on the M since that'll always be there but on the mazdaspeed+3 i used tape...you cant tell it sticks out unless your face is in it at an angle
