ALL Unichip Questions / Problems

I'm not saying that to be condescending. The bottom line is tuning is your major obstacle. These are probably your best options in my opinion.

Option 1 get the older version and stick to a tuner near you
Option 2 get the older version and bring the car to me, drive it on stock injectors and ecu and out of boost until you get here
Option 3 get another ECU that you can tune yourself and ask Unichip for a refund of the purchase price.

Hey Sam, going to need another tune... this nice steamy texas weather is doing some nasty stuff to my a/f's. At night the a/f is great but mang during the day its leaning some. Ill get with you when i can head down there.

During the DAY? its going lean? Does this make sense? When it's hot you should be getting richer fuel mixture. Or does that have something to do with your "dry heat" in the south. When it's hot up here I crank up the boost.

Ok just let me know when. Try and get a new engine wiring harness or one in better condition and insulate the heat from the turbo more. I think you might have a frayed wire in there.

Unichip Update question

Hey All,
So I went a ahead and got the 626 manifold, and will be installing it in the next few weeks. I will not be able to get a custom tune for a while. So my question is if I run 10psi (SMIC, K&N panel filter, &TB) with this manifold on the factory unichip map, will I be running to lean? or is the factory map conservative enough for me to still be ok until I am able to get a custom tune? What to you guys think?

Thanks

I'm interested too. the 626 mani is a great mod, but I hear its not for use with unichip without a tune.

From everything I've read the 626 mani causes you to lose bottom end torque, for a small increase in top end hp. Not worth it to me.

First, high revs, which you need to utilize the gain in hp from the mani, kills these motors.
Secondly, low end torque is what get's you off the line.

Wondering what MSP mods the Unichip will work on with it's base map? How much boost (guessing just stock), would it work with a FMIC or SMIC? I'm still at stock injectors/turbo, but cannot find anyone around here at all that can tune it.

Mine was tuned pretty well until the FMIC went on, then it was lean up-top. It was also running more boost than it should have at that time too, so maybe with better boost control 10psi vs 15psi it still would have been ok?

i'm running the base map with hard pipes w/ ssqv, SMIC, CAI, CS J, MAM Mid-Pipe w/cat, vac lines on stock boost but this setup should be good for 10 psi though but only with a good boost controller not the one that comes with the unichip

other things that don't work well with the unichip without being tuned are 440's, VTCS removed IM's, 626 IM, FMIC (depends who you talk to)...I think there are a few other things too but I don't know what they are

I'm halfway tempted to downgrade my mods to get it to work.. if I'm not able to find someone to tune it.

with the mods you have in your sig even with the FMIC you should be ok on the stock tune but if you got it tuned you will get more out of it + be safer. but also seing that you have the J&S you'll be warned before you go to far

(bow) we'll see how it goes.

Good Luck. There was nobody in OK that could tune that trash box for me either.

Go methanol!

With all your mods, you could really have a bad ass car.

Plus if you come out here to get it tuned Harry is real good with methanol.

Also, I talked to him and he said it looks good on getting some dyno time. Yay! That means I'll finally get to tune my car with this "trash box." ;)
