CEL after hydroplaning

I just ran across this link. That was the exact code. Why can't I just change the secondary o2 sensor? I think I'll check the sensor at the pre cat first since that's closest to where the water was.

Has this code come back up? If you do replace any 02 sensors get the Bosch universal...it's the same exact sensor only you splice it in. 10min and $150+/- cheaper! Like $70!

It came back on today. It seems to come back on after about 30 miles of driving. It seems to start guzzling fuel like a champ too whenever it comes back on. I read elsewhere that somebody who had this code (P0420) had a blown i/m gasket. How would I know if that's the case?

You'd have a loud sucking noise at the Intake Mani mostly and maybe bogging under accel and some black smoke from running so rich.

wouldn't it be running lean due to the unmetered air entering the intake??maybe i'm way off, (smash)

I can completely block the air from entering the intake box, but it's still runs after bogging for a split second. It sounds like air is being sucked in from behind the i/m somewhere.

I'm developing what seems to be a misfire "pop" when I release the accelerator pedal. Like I said, #1 was the most flooded. Is it possible I blew a piston ring? There for not allowing all the fuel to combust in turn having the second o2 sensor read to much unburned fuel?

If you do have that loud sucking noise at your mani from a blown gasket and running lean on decel that can cause the popping.
