Ive have a set of 18 inch rims on my car for the past month and a half and just now my tire pressure light went off. I got out and looked and the car looked fine.. but the light is still on. Is it possible one of the senors is bugging out?

for one you can't just look at the tires to see if the pressure is okay, actually check with a gauge

and the way they work (i assume) is they relate the pressures to each other, as opposed to just looking for less pressure than spec, so when one is off by a little bit the light comes on.

the reason i say this is because i thought i had gotten a nail in a tire one time, but actually turned out to be a tack. the place i took it to had done the proper testing, but left too much pressure in the one tire. so when my TPMS went off (at first i was pissed) i checked with a gauge and got like 5 or so more lbs in that tire than the others. so even though there were 3 with the correct pressures, the fact that 1 was uneven made the system burn the warning lamp (which i like to call the butt)

you'd better check all the pressures because you don't want 1 to be buggin out, they can be expensive to replace. and if you got your new wheels at a shop and they did everything for you, they might have messed something up with one during the transition from stock to aftermarket

i belive its looking for over 30 psi or is it 32 either way its looking for over a certin psi. also remember 10deg temp is equel to 1 psi.

Tires lose a bit of pressure normally, too. Something like 1 lb per month or something.

Just check all four tires with a digital gauge: stock is 34 front and 32 rear. With your new tires, it'd be whatever you deem appropriate.

Without getting into too much detail I can tell you my tires were over inflated to 40psi all around and I didnt get a warning light. I wouldnt have even known but checked the tires as soon as I got the car home and discovered this. I think it might only be looking for a low pressure threshold.

An industrious member could probably test this.

Anyone have a service manual yet?

It was as simple as checking my tire pressuree.. front right was off by 4 po(silly)unds..

u finally get those work meisters u were talkin about? The 8.5s?
I didnt get the Meisters i got Work VSXX's.. Im running 18 x 8 in the front and 18 x 9 in the rear with 225's all around. I love the way it sits and looks.. EVERYONE was wrong about the staggred look.. but im rubbing on the right side through hard turns and funny dips. Its going up on the lift today to figre out wtf is wrong

My light was coming on intermittently while traveling. Tire pressure was fine. Perhaps the sensors that I bought from the TireRack (Bosch) are not compatible with the Mazda system.

27psi is the trigger tripper IIRC

Makes sense. I checked my tire pressures this past weekend with my super-duper $1.99 PepBoys special tire pressure gauge and two of them were down to 28psi with no light. Seems as though the dealer I picked the car up from last week (brand new) couldn't manage to fill the tires to specification during their "69 point inspection" they do when they sell a car, which was obviously claimed to be done to pump sunshine up my rearend. :)

I always thought the red was the thickest measurement on the hair scale. I will need to do a comparative analysis.
