my speed is still chillin' in japan

stopped by the dealer i ordered my 08.5 BM GT from and he says although it was built on the 26th of april, it is still sitting waiting to be shipped. JUST SITTING THERE!

then he tells me even if it gets shipped tomorrow i still might not be able to drive off the lot with it until late june, early july. AND he said there was one built not 4 days earlier (same options as i ordered) that did make it onto the ship right afterwards and will be at that dealer the first week of june. he's trying to put me in that one instead (to make me happier for getting one earlier) but my financial situtation will make me wait for the one i ordered

wtf is the hold up? is there some terrible storm or earthquake happening in japan right now? i think maybe they're not putting them on ship right now cuz the only one they have available is called the "cougar ace 2," so they're waiting for the next boat to come through

Welp...parts of asia did just get hit by a pretty bad earthquake, but seriously just give it time. The longer you wait the more appreciation you'll have for it once you finally get it. Congrats on the purchase!

I dont understand.
If you're financial situation is making you wait for the one you ordered, why are you angry that its not already on the boat being shipped?

do you not realize how long it takes a freighter ship to cross the Pacific? Then it needs to go cross country....

originally i placed the order with the salesman in march...at which point he let me know that it would be built by april 24th, and they would finally receive it mid may, which i had no problem with.

the financial situation is my wife and i are trying to put down $14k on it, leaving a little less than $10k to finance (she's the money manager and wants no more than $200/month payment). the $14k is going to come from selling a jeep we got for $4k (which we'll be making money off of), and selling my motorcycle. also included in the time frame for purchase was our tax refund and gov't stimulus. those things made me order the car in march knowing that the receive time would be somewhere in june, instead of getting another one that was coming in at the end of this month. so the timing was right.

but since im so pesimistic when i heard "end of june, beginning of july" i immediately thought of mid july for a receive date, that's where the me being mad part comes into play. now it seems that the jeep we're going to sell will just have that much more time to depreciate and have a possible problem, making it a tougher sell.

and as of right now, financially, we can't get the one coming in the first week of june

he tells me about a month, and i believe they come into phili or baltimore, and the dealer (and i) are right smack in the middle of both of those.
